I just want 1 rumble of this infamous thundersleet we've read so much about today on this forum. I suspect you're experience is much like mine with very little sleet on the ground. When the precip total graphics come out tomorrow or next day, it'll show our area as one of those that didn't get much.
It seems like there's always a dry spot around Rockwall. I recall numerous precipitation maps from various events have a glob of lower precipitation amounts around your area.

The convective activity seems to end soon after the Ft. Worth band moves eastward...according to FWD, copying relevant section:
Those that seem to have the most during the event are folks north of I-20 (Collin/Denton and Northwards) and Tarrant County.
However, Mr. Cavanaugh does make a lot of good observations about the next event on Tuesday. It seems like we will have another round on Tuesday that could be significant, especially for Central Texas: http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php ... glossary=1
I'm getting moderate to heavy sleet here at the moment.
Ft Worth NWS Office wrote:FOR THE WINTER STORM WARNING AREA...MOST OF THE WINTRY

LIGHT ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED. LIGHT ADDITIONAL
ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OF SLEET ARE POSSIBLE

ACTIVITY EARLIER...ROADS WILL REMAIN SLICK. ANY LOCATIONS THAT
MISSED THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY...EVEN IN THE WINTER STORM WARNING
AREA...LIKELY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ENOUGH ACCUMULATIONS FOR PRIMARY
ROADWAYS TO BE VERY ICY. BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES HOWEVER COULD BE
ICY ACROSS MUCH OF NORTH TEXAS...AS TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE LOWER

Right now we have what I can only explain as snow mist. It's really fine, blowing around and reducing visibility.

Unofficially, it appears DFW received 0.06 inch QPF from this event....these models are horrendous with qpf amounts sometimes.

Sleet has made the road slushy and another heavy band is hitting now. Temps are around 28, but I expect that temps will drop some more after sunset before it all ends here. Tomorrow morning will be mighty cold.

I don't know, there were signs on the models of a wrap around band at the end, but it seems to die out by the time it gets here on the RAP, etc. The best lift is going to be transitioning east and somewhat drier air is filtering in. However, we might have a stray light sleet shower here and there during the evening.
I do want to say that I was lucky enough to be under a thundersleet shower and I have never, ever (not in Dec 2013 or Feb 2011) seen it come down as hard as it did for a minute or two. I wish I had presence of mind to capture it on film, but the sleet accumulated rapidly (and I had sleet before). The roads where the heavy sleetstorms occurred are going to rapidly become very bad tonight as the sleet hardens and becomes a solid sheet. Parts of Dallas, Collin, Denton, and Tarrant counties are going to be very bad to drive on later tonight and tomorrow. I suspect that some school districts around town are going to delay or close tomorrow due to this event, because ice is very tricky to drive on.
