Wonder if this means more warm air intrusion and prolonged period of rain. Have noticed though that dewpoints are holding tough on Long Island for the time being. Need winds to start backing to the NNE this afternoon to get more snow. Wish I was there for this!! 8-)

How much snow do you think Staten Island, New York gets. Seems to be more warm air with the storm. I don't think anyone was predicting this warm air.

^ It's not that unexpected for New York. The real snow is not to come in until the system occludes off the Long Island coast. This evening when the band off upstate New York merges (phase) that's when you get the massive deformation band come together and things go wild. The current precip is just over-runing from the southern low.

Not an exact timeframe but what I have seen so far is after 8-9 PM EST. It all depends on when that line of rain/sleet/snow crosses to the south of there.

Dew Points across LI are beginning to drop slowly as well as temps. Once the winds pick up from the NE it won't take long to tranisition to snow. Low pressure off Carolinas beginning to wind up. IMHO I think think the tri-state area will go to mostly all snow by 1600.

Instead of studying or doing homework, I sketched the 500mb chart for 12z. Kinda fun. Thought I would share.

We now return to your regularly scheduled nor'easter of doom thread.

All the New England region is being affected already depending of the area as the rain/sleet/snow line moves back and forth. But is all snow for Massachussets, upper NY state,Hudson valley,Rhode Island and Connecticut. For New York City is rain mixed with sleet but that will change later this afternoon to all snow.
