BigB how's it been? Still have a lot more coming from the West according to radar, if it doesn't dry out. Just went outside and it's still pure sleet here in Gonzales. Roof and ground is starting to turn white with ice. Also starting to stick on all the concrete, has a nice crunch when walking down driveway.

Same here. I just really thought we were going over to all snow around 6:00 or so. It did for a bit but then went back to sleet. We probably have an hour or so left of this and even though radar shows snow it is clearly just sleet. Better than nothing and we did get some snow so thats two events in one year!

Sleeting quite hard in Baton Rouge. I can't believe this has stayed sleet for so long after it began changing over. Haven't seen that happen before but again, haven't seen much winter weather down here. If we had stayed all snow when it first changed, around 6:30 or so, we would have had a good inch or so by now. The sidewalks are pure ice. I guess that is what is scary about this, all this sleet is just sitting on the roads and what does melt just freezes into solid ice.

A little concerned this may be an all or mostly all sleet event.. Radar shows snow but it's heavy sleet

Back to almost all snow in Baton Rouge. I am really hoping it stays like this through the end. If it goes back to sleet then I am throwing in the towel.

We are back to almost all snow here in Denham Springs too, and we are getting huge flakes now.

That is disappointing. I was hoping we would stay all snow to the very end. If you are ending in sleet then I guess we will too. This is so odd to see it change from sleet to snow to sleet to snow. I didn't know that happened. I thought once you transitioned to snow that that was it and it would remain snow!
Anyone think this will lower our forecast highs for tomorrow? Not sure if the highs took into account any sleet/snow accumulations for this area.

South Lafayette here sitting at 24. I've seen a sleet/snow mix recently but it's predominantly been all sleet this evening. The roads are absolutely locked up, frozen solid and white in front of my house. I'd imagine most people will have a late start for work tomorrow. Looks like we have one more burst of precip (hopefully we finally get all snow) before it wraps up and then the focus is on how cold we get. Local mets going for 18 but TWC app now showing 16. 16 degrees would tie the coldest we reached in Feb of 1996 and to get colder than that you have to go to 1989..quite the arctic blast this is! Stay safe everyone!

The snow has arrived on the Mississippi coast. Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi is reporting light snow and 32 degrees there this hour.
New Orleans International Airport reporting light freezing rain and 30 degrees this hour.
Montgomery, AL now reporting light snow and 30 degrees.

I never saw a sneauxflake. My home is south of the Vermilion near the Costco Center. My blacktop road is now a whitetop!!!! I hope I’ll be able to make it into work at some point tomorrow.

Where is Jag95 this evening? The snow is just about approaching you there in the Mobile, AL area.
Also, Ivanhater, hope you are on the thread this evening with another winter weather event coming in overnight and into the wee hours of the morning. Hope you will keep us updated out there in Pensacola.

Amazing that despite being 23 degrees here in South Baton Rouge the precipitation is ending as heavy sleet. Not complaining. What a wintry weather event. The city is shut down.

Keeps us posted. You are close to where you could get the best dynamical forcing from the right rear quadrant of the upper jet to possibly give decent snowfall accumulation. Watch that closely the next couple few hours.

Couldn't help myself, had to get an early peek. I drove about an hour north of here and I thought for a few minutes it was a mistake. HEAVY snow in southern Washington County. The kind you don't drive in. The whole side of my truck is a solid sheet of ice now.

Just went out again to take a peak and everything is white and glazed over.. also looks like more snow is mixing in.. The way it's coming down, I'm surprised the NWS hasn't upgraded the advisory to a warning

I'm just to the East of Pensacola on the Santa Rosa /Escambia county line. Will let folks know how things are going once we get going.
