KFOR has this forecast, Tulsa is a little warmer than OKC because of a little more sunlight.

Up to 1 inch in Central Oklahoma, 2-4 in SW & Western Oklahoma.

Jog back memory lane. Around this date last year DFW had a winter low of 27F. It hadn't gotten that cold yet. December and January had a few Oklahoma, west Texas, and central Texas snow events from -AO strong ULL systems. In terms of cold it was hardly, and the gloomy posts ensued.

That year serves as a reminder that no winter is over by January. February is usually the moneymaker!

Oh yeah! It was around the closing days of January the general models started showing a big storm system with snow early Feb but were ghost/model storms. However that was a signal that some cold was coming.

If we're gonna get snow it needs to be a good enough amount to cancel classes. None of this "oh look we got some flurries and now I get to walk to class in miserable weather" kind of stuff

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

And here's a crazy statistic that it doesn't snow much in DFW during the month of January of late. Since 2000 March has seen more snow nearly 3x over.

Models have done some sig flip flopping in particular the ensembles. -PNA is now gone early Feb. Ridging east and west coast, good for TX.
I really hate to compare Feb '21, but i dont remember what factors led to the over the top blocking and the PV dropping down. The look at the end of the run does look good for Texas. I noticed that cyclonic wave breaking on the east coast is what leads to the PV coming down some and setting up the pattern at the end of the run. Is that what happened in the week or so leading up to 2/21?
I love looking at long range for educational purposes. It shows what we want to see, often, but it also shows what it takes to get there in the hours leading up to epic freezes or snowstorms in the long range.

Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
Interesting overnight GFS runs. Lots of moisture in sub-freezing air here in Houston Feb 7-8, not so much in DFW. Let's hope this does not verify, as I'd need to shut the water off and fill my Home Depot 5-gal buckets again. I'm not prepping the high-speed NASA for departure to Sydney just yet, as this event is way out in GFS fantasy land for now.
