I think the temps are raising a little I’m starting to see more 28s and 29s in the metroplex. If no additional cooling happens I wonder if tomorrow’s ice storm busts a little early with temps getting above freezing.

Mine came up another .2 over the past 2 hours (so it’s slowed), ironically on the first night the NWS actually seemed to get the forecast cold enough with 25. Wonder if the mid levels are already warming enough to influence the ground. Not sure if it will affect tomorrow but interesting development if it goes up any more.

Temps have dropped to freezing further south into San Antonio tonight as expected. Radar showing precip developing to the south moving north.

Maybe it’s time for the Texas Toboggan Team to return. It’s been a minute, huh Mav? :D

Dews have lowered and evaporative cooling has ceased. Here I’m at 25.7 which is a degree above this morning. Humidity is 80% which is a far cry from the 99% earlier. That said the cold is moderating from above as the sw flow aloft is eroding the cold air from the top down and winds are almost nonexistent and CAA has ceased. If the SW arrives as advertised, it will be interesting to see how tomorrow goes. Truth be told as I’m in the ice storm warning area, I’d rather rain.

Been thinking about what NTXW said earlier and how the cold air with the ULL will be mitigated by the inversion. It’s interesting to think about. I can see how snow would be impacted but not sure about sleet versus freezing rain.

All of Bexar County now covered with freezing rain. Dangerous situation unfolding for bridges and overpasses overnight into early rush hour. Schools are closed again thankfully.

Absolutely pouring rain in far NW SA, and the icicles are forming. If the forecast is right, we'll get back above freezing in 8 or 9 hours. If.

Getting nervous about power.

Yeah looks like it will be a rough night in SA. Large area of moderate freezing rain will be moving across the city over the next several hours. I'm expecting ice accumulations of at least 0.10 inch.

While I hope Canadian is overblown with ice in NE TX today, it's the only one that has temps correct right now.

Hmm... possible extension of ISW east discussed. ugh do not discuss that!

Significant ice accumulations are expected
through Wednesday evening and into Wednesday night with widespread
totals nearing 0.10-0.25" across North and Central Texas and up to
0.5" generally along and west of I-35/35W. This area is included
in the Ice Storm Warning where higher ice accumulations will
increase the likelihood of tree damage and localized power
outages. The axis of higher ice accumulation may shift east for
those north of I-20, which would also necessitate extending the
Ice Storm Warning east as well.

Still raining at a decent clip right now. Probably will be that way until late morning. Temperature is bobbing between 28° & 30°. The short trees & shrubs are starting to get a nice coating of ice on them. I can only imagine if the bridges are getting coated the same way.

Update: Reports of Slush beginning to form on the 281/1604 Flyover ramps.

Insane number of outages ongoing now across the SA metro (over 27k customers without power). Numerous reports of blown transformers and downed power lines due to ice.

Raining pretty well on the east side here; just a touch under 32 on my porch now. Limbs/ice falling on my roof got me out of bed.

Seeing a lot of 32 and 33 readings in Austin metro and just east/SE. Wondering if this pretty heavy rain is warming things a bit?

It actually can. Heavier rates can pull down that warm layer at about 5k ft to the surface and "warm" temps a few degrees.
