The sun is trying to peek thru here in Carrollton Texas. Nothing has reached the ground today.
Radar returns not impressive at all yet either.

It's pretty bad. Major damage to our large live oak, more branches have cracked and fallen. I hate seeing it. Hopefully the worst is coming to an end as I'm seeing some melting occurring.

Just had another light batch come through. Still, I would say a majority is sleet for me. But, some wet fence indicates that it is mixing with freezing rain. Yesterday that wood was dry because we only had sleet pellets at 24-26 so there was not even a bit of melting.

Up to 28 today.

DP is rising again so maybe starting to saturate any dry air.

How are the current temps holding up to the models so far? Looks like freezing line still hasn’t moved much still upper 20s throughout the metroplex.

If I remember correctly from yesterday, the bulk of the precip was supposed to be later today for the metroplex as opposed to Tuesday when it hit earlier in the morning? I think the heaviest stuff is yet to come.

I guess the question is, how high will temps go before then?

Just looked out side (N of McKinney). Everything is wet and most of the ice is gone. 27 degrees, but the rain that came down was warm enough to melt most everything.

Models are decent on temps it appears, at least for my general area. They show slow warming even through the evening.

That's my worry about freezing rain. It may warm up the ground temps and melt off the ice and give schools too much confidence about tomorrow.

I thought it was raining here, but it's just water running off from the ice on the roof going thru a pretty rapid melting. Most roofs on my street are almost ice free now.

My front sidewalk and driveway are almost clear from ice as well. I was all under a fairly think sheet of compacted sleet when I went to bed last night. I don't have a thermometer, but finding it hard to believe we are below 30 with this kind of thaw occuring, but cant say for sure.

Not what I expected today, but I'll take it.

I might even be able to make it to the liquor store in a little bit :D

It's actually quite normal, without cold air advection the warmth from your home and human activity is warmer than air temperature. UHI.

I see a batch of Precipitation heading my way from Lawton, even if it does not make it here, it will saturate the atmosphere for the next wave to come in later today.

Big fireball in the center of our solar system doing work, not necessarily air temps

Crazy morning from SA to AUS with ice and power outages. Worst of it over there. Despite the light freezing rain up in DFW this morning, it appears so far, they have dodged the worst of it for now. Latest HRRR and 3k NAM warms temps just at or above freezing by 6 AM tomorrow for most locations. As mentioned yesterday hopefully that trend occurs.

Big question is how will the roads do. One more day of closures or open up delayed and get back to work and school.

Just got the email. Keller is going to stay closed tomorrow. A little surprised since I bet roads will be fine by 10 a.m. based on current forecasts. Maybe earlier.

IF we get heavy icing, people will need time to fix broken branches etc., so I'm not complaining about another day.
