Well tomorrow will be interesting. I assumed I would have a full day of school but I also thought the temp would be 35 or so today. It only barely reached 33 IMBY, and really was 32 or below for most of the day. That could be a problem with refreezing overnight unless it all sublimates off. Seems too humid for that.

It's all about the eyeball test. If the officials wake up and see anything even if slush, they definitely wouldn't want to risk it.

This event basically closed schools for just about a week. Feb 2021 was the other other incident in the past who knows how long to do the same.

No wet snowflakes but some nice steady rain with this last wave of precip. It would have been sweet to have all snow with the final wave. Oh well , I still think we have a month and a half of good winter to go.

Lots of Tarrant districts have closed tomorrow, including mine. With it getting down to 26 tonight, probably a good idea...

So close to a mix sounding that I wouldn't be shocked for someone to see some snow flakes mix in. Just a bit too warm between 800 and 900mb with temps maxing around 3-5C. Otherwise it is a great snow sounding. If there are heavy pockets then some flakes could survive.
The real threat is black ice tonight and tomorrow night with so much moisture leftover. Puddles could freeze on bridges as well as there could be freezing fog both nights.

Okay, with this one hitting the books, let’s talk long range again. Anything cooking?

Other than a potential heavy rain event in Northern Texas and into Oklahoma, nothing much.

Probably mid-month, give or take, as it looks like we will get a -PNA/EPO pattern with some ridging on the East Coast. There will be a cold front next week that will kickoff the transition process. If the Canadian can keep it up, then I'll take whatever comes after this lol

I think we could see some potential for some sort of severe weather in eastern TX and areas to the east around the 2/8-2/9 period. Models are kinda all over the place right now, but it could be something to at least keep an eye on the next few days.

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Camp Mabry said ice was .63" thick; this is from my window on the East side; couldn't actually get into the back yard to show with a ruler, but that's an inch on some of those branches. (Bigger limb in foreground is 5-6" diameter.)

Well we’re getting another event today. All the melting and falling ice looks like sleet and snow in the sun. Pretty cool actually. Lots of established pecans, oaks and other big trees in my hood reforming into shape.
