The SPC has a Slight Risk for severe storms Next Monday (12/12) for NE Texas, Eastern Oklahoma, SW Missouri, NW Louisiana, and most of Arkansas.

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

6z GFS might be the most realistic in a while.

Still has no clue how to handle the blocking up high. Yeah, the surface output is better for cold lovers, but it’s not trustworthy and completely collapses the blocking regime when the Euro and Canadian strengthen it.

Until it has a reasonable 500mb pattern, there’s no reason to look at it.

I'm sick of the humid heat here in Houston. That is all.

Just took at look at the analogs, it's more west based compared to the December 2015 Super El Nino

What does this mean? Meanwhile, the GFS operational remains defiant…

GFS tries the omega snowstorm in New Mexico and Texas.

Yeah, the GFS also wants the MJO to jump in Phase 1, 2, and 3.

Don’t know why y’all still check on the new GFS… several here and elsewhere have told you it’s worthless versus the others when it comes to accuracy

The Direct Weather guy on YouTube is the worst lol I just watched his latest video and he’s telling everyone now that it looks like the cold isn’t coming.

Lol yeah. I have no clue what some people are seeing. Basically every sign is pointing towards a cold outbreak.

I moved from McKinney to Ruidoso NM recently, and I can't make heads or tails up here using the GFS.

I work remote for a landscape maintenance company in the North Texas area. As part of the remote deal I still have to be the company weather guy. Storm2K, you all, are in my tool bag, so thanks.

I've learned more from here the last 11 years, than I have from a textbook or blog post. I rarely watch models surface output now. I try to do it the old fashioned way as much as possible.

Most of the model guidance outside of the GFS continues to indicate well below normal temperatures returning during the 7-14 day time period. Confidence is pretty high for that far out that our warm pattern will be coming to an end by late next week.
