AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS
425 AM CST SUN FEB 15 2004

.DISCUSSION...THE SNOW IS TRYING TO GET ESTABLISHED...BUT TEMPS IN
THE 38 TO 41 DEGREE RANGE ARE KEEPING PRECIP MOSTLY LIQUID. THE TEMP
"WALL" SEEMS TO BE THE MS RIVER...AS AREAS OVER SE AR/NE LA HAVE
SEEN SOME SNOW ACCUM. ONCE WE GET TO THE RIVER AND EASTWARD...MOSTLY
RAIN. ALONG THE VERY NORTHERN FRINGES OF THE CWA WE ARE STARTING TO
GET REPORTS OF SOME CHANGEOVER. AFTER LOOKING AT MAY MODELS...SFC
OBS AND PUBLIC REPORTS...IT JUST SEEMS TOO WARM ACROSS N-CENTRAL AND
NE AREAS. HOWEVER...THE DEFORMATION PRECIP IS WELL ESTABLISHED AND
THIS IS A FAVORED SNOW REGION. HAVE DECIDED TO JUST KEEP THE HEAVY
SNOW WARNING AS IS. THIS IS BASED ON CURRENT ACCUM OVER THE FAR NW
AND THE BEGINNING OF SOME CHANGEOVER IN A FEW MS COUNTIES. WILL
MENTION 1 TO 3 IN ACCUM POSSIBLE. AS FOR THE ADVISORY AREA...WILL
KEEP THE CURRENT COUNTIES ALONG AND WEST OF I-55. WILL REMOVE
COUNTIES FROM WEBSTER EASTWARD AND MENTION JUST FLURRIES.

Good call, indeed! There's a good inch on the
ground, here, and, it's still coming down, quite
well. Everything is gloriously covered in the
white stuff that I have been waiting for! ;)
