winter storms watch for SW MO

#1 Postby WXBUFFJIM » Tue Nov 23, 2004 8:56 am

A winter storm watch is in effect for southwestern Missouri through Wednesday. A winter storm is expected to affect southwestern Missouri starting later tonight and lasting through the day on Wednesday. Periods of heavy snow are possible Wednesday with 3-5" of accumulation likely in the heaviest affected areas. Isolatd amounts of 6 inches are possible from Springfield northeastward to Columbia, Missouri. By later tomorrow, expect a 2-5" snowfall northwest of St Louis and 1 inch or less in the St Louis metro area.

A winter storm watch means winter storm conditions with significant snow and or ice accumulation is possible. Folks traveling on Wednesday and Wednesday night need to monitor future forecasts on this possibly dangerous winter storm.

Thanks yoda. Onset of snow looks to be within the hour... I have put under a snow advisory. The wind is crazy outside, too.

Just north of Springfield, MO, we had roughly an inch of snow, but it was hard to measure since it was melting as it was snowing. (34-38°F) Very little snow remains on the ground now, but up north near Kansas City, 6-9" was reported.

Officially 5 to 7 inches here in the KC area. It was a heavy wet snow.

I didn't know what the airports had reported, but I saw on KCTV that North Kansas City had 9" and Lee's Summit had 8".

I watched KSHB's Action News. That's where I got my report from.
