Satellite Tells story on the East?

#1 Postby AggieSpirit » Mon Dec 20, 2004 10:31 pm

The image at http://weather.unisys.com/satellite/sat_ir_rad_loop.gif made me wonder.

Along the east coast, you can see clouds suddenly forming in a line about 100 or so miles off the eastern seabord between RI and FL. Is that the effect of the cold air blowing out to sea and flowing over warmer water?

I am a newbie. Thanks.

Can that result in 'ocean' effect snow out at sea? Kinda like what happens with the great lakes?

It also tells the story of Southern Christmas snow...look around Reno, NV and that's what they are talking about....
