Blizzard conditions in NYC
Man, I haven't been following the weather reports the last few days so this is pretty shocking stuff to me. Not to mention the temps hitting 60 degrees yesterday. I had a good view from high up of what was going on around noon. It looked like a giant cloud of blowing snow was eveloping the city. Vis was down well below 1/4 mile. I was just walking back to my apartment and these vicious gusts of wind started up...oh man, get me out there...
Looks like things are going downhill again around 2 PM...

REALLY???
No, he was just kidding. New Jersey is just like Florida in the winter. If you want real snow, you have to head on down to Charlotte, NC.

Yes stephanie your not being a good influence on us. You yell at people when they are yelling at each other. Your not being a good moderator right now. JSB is allowed to speak his opinion. Leave him alone, let it go, and set a good example for newcomers.JETSTREAM BOB wrote:Now Steph don't get mad, just kidding with you----

Nothing special, but I know some people like photos. I had better views at work, but no camera.

My friend just flew out of Houston back to Providence, and the piolet tried landing and circled twice, and said if he cant land on this try they are going to Philli. Well they landed and she said the snow is blowing and is terrible blizzard conditions, so far they have 6-8 inches on the ground. She didnt want to leave Houston, I guess this is Rhode Islands way of welcoming her back to "reality"!

Yea I suppose so. I'm glad she's on the ground safe though, that's important to know. I wonder if she saw thundersnow in that area. I've been getting lots of reports of thundersnow from the I 95 corridor across New England tonight. Now that's brutal.
We got gusts of 50-55 mph earlier today in maryland along with a heavy burst of snow only measuring about 1/2 inch. But it was the heavy wet snow combined with the wicked winds that really made things nasty for over an hour earlier today.
Before sunset, river tributaries just inland from the Chesapeake Bay experienced a very rough chop and freezing spray because the winds were just so strong. Gusts were 50-55 mph at sunset where I was in exposed shoreline. Between the 50-55 mph gusts and temps in the upper 20s, it was tough to even get a picture of the freezing spray. But it was worth it, I had my 6 layers on. On Monday I had shorts and a tee shirt on and it was 70 degrees outside. Go figure.

Blizzard conditions and thundersnow on Cape Cod. And the wind is howling through the trees here. We have ice under the snow from the rain and temperature drop (from 45 to 17--but 20 degrees of the drop was within about an hour). So the roads are pretty dangerous.
For a short time this afternoon the deck was clear down to wood, and the snow was all out of the gutters, etc. because of the hard rain--but it's all white again...
Ah well...

I'm glad that your friend arrived safely Yankeegirl!
Well, the wind last night tore some of the siding off of my house!!!!!
We could hear the piece that was still hanging on for dear life squeak as it waved in the wind.
Take care up there Persepone! Everything was a sheet of ice this morning due to the wind-blown snow freezing on the surfaces.
Is it Spring yet????

You're such a doll Eric!! (((HUGS))) back!

There were gusts of over 40 MPH, but the sustained winds were over 30 MPH. Obviously, they must've been lose to begin with, but dang!!!

We've had a few Nor'easter the past few years and we've also had some roof tiles torn off of the house.
