Tornado touches down in Hardin County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A band of strong storms spawned a tornado that touched down Monday afternoon near Elizabethtown in Hardin County, authorities said.

Property damage was reported, but there were no reports of injuries.

Kentucky State Police said the tornado touched down between Elizabethtown and Radcliff. State police dispatcher Joey Mattingly in Elizabethtown said trees and utility poles were downed across the northern section of Hardin County.

The storms came amid unseasonably warm weather across Kentucky.

Yeah, that was the one I got concerned about after seeing the SWS from the NWS at Louisville during their tornado warning. It was moving NE and I was worried it could impact somewhere in NKY.

Richmond, KY had some severe wx roll in. That's not far from Florence! Just glad you didn't receive what Hardin County did - very!

Actually, Richmond is closer to Lexington. And there had been reports of some rotation near Berea, KY. Richwood got the same thing we did.

Oh, thanks for the correction. Still, it certainly is odd wx for January! Makes me wonder if we'll get slammed with a blizzard soon. Going from one extreme to another. I saw a neighbor today outside raking leaves wearing shorts!

That was a very impressive bow in that line of storms
that bore down on Elizabethtown, about that time of afternoon.
I had a moment to check the radar at work, and, see the
clearing in my area (we were spared of any storms at all,
actually), but, my eyes went right up to that bowing line up
in KY!

Well, the pattern is supposed to change in the next week. So, maybe we will.

As far as Cincy goes, did you see the video footage from WKRC last night? That was actually a funnel!

Yeah, my eyes went straight to that the moment I heard they had a tornado on the ground. Some pics were posted to the Louisville NWS website that are VERY impressive looking. The damage shown in those pics in my opinion just about has to be an F2. Of course, then I began to worry a bit due to the fact that it was headed northeast. Had it held up, that beast may have hit the Cincinnati metro I do believe.
