I normally shut down during storms, unplug everything too. I do not have very good surge protection, and I have already fried one modem port  So I now pull the phone line out of the back of my PC. We have just finished paying off our system, so I will not be very popular with my husband if I leave it on during close lightning. If there is very active weather (as Perry said, and not just the run of the mill thunderstorms we get here) I will chance it when no one is watching! :o LOL I am sneaky
