Chicago Derecho

#1 Postby RL3AO » Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:28 pm

I know everyone is focused on Edouado, but there is a major derecho developing in the Chicago area. Winds in excess of 80 mph will be hitting downtown Chicago within 20 minutes, including Wrigley field where a game is in session.

I've been watching that as well and trying to relay info to people on that too. Busy evening. Major damage was reported in Mount Morris with a tall tower knocked down.

Well, I've got the game on, so I can watch the weather move in...I'm sure once they see lightning, they'll stop the game.

TWC talking about the Chicago storms right now....this could end up being more damaging than Ed if high density population areas get the winds they are talking about that are west of chicago

Yep, all the warnings are for winds higher then 70 mph and some are tornadic. Areas of northern Chicago needs to watch that tornado wanred cell, if it stays tornadic, it will affect thosr areas.
