Welcome to the worst part of Texas summer, unless you live in far West Texas

Winter time post are almost exclusively focused on the DFW area.
Re: Texas Summer 2022
Time for the June report card.
June average for select sites:
DFW: 86.1F (6th warmest)
Austin Mabry: 87.7F (warmest)
San Antonio: 87.7F (warmest)
Houston: 86.7F (warmest)
All of these sites added more to the deficit and ended up with another month below normal rainfall. There were select periods of rainfall for different areas but the moral of the story continued, the dry periods outpaced the wet patterns. Houston is almost 6" below normal for the month.
For the lucky few who's getting rain in far Southeast Texas from 95L will likely end up above normal rainfall there for July. Ridging isn't that strong next week but in July any ridging will be hot coupled. But longer range doesn't give much promise.
It's becoming more clear that summer 2022 will feature slow and steady type heat isn't flashy but persistent.

Way too many 100s on the weather apps and models here coming up
Definitely my least favorite time of year. At least the days start getting shorter this month

Apparently there's been model runs approaching 2011 levels according to one of the TV mets here
That year it was 113 apparently with a couple lows barely below 90... Needless to say he's hoping it's way overdone

Right? Our records are actually warmer than y'all's Tulsa hit 115 in 1936!
I will say when we flipped to hot a few weeks ago our humidity was way worse too because of the excessive rain in May. I saw a heat index of 114 one day and the air temperature was only 98-99

Re: Texas Summer 2022
It's all about duration the further south you go! Kansas has some crazy hot temperatures more than a lot of the TX cities also. Proximity to the gulf vs continental interior underneath a heat dome.
GFS been trying to put out 600dm+ ridges which if true would yield 110+. I think someone in the I-35 corridor will see it this July, will it be this coming heatwave is to be seen. After Monday the 100+ streak will start. Still guessing ~20 days though that might be on the lighter side for DFW. Most of the month may end up with it.
Soon after the blip negative SOI is streaking positive yet still. Indicates general dry-ness will persist.

Looking at the forecast for the next 15 days feels like a bad dream. At least 105 every single day and not a chance for rain. People actually enjoy this season?!

About as bad as it gets around here...I'm afraid the next 2 months are going to be brutal.

I'd give anything to go back to last year! That was one of the best summer patterns around these parts, ugh.

Yeah that's kind of been my thought the last couple weeks at least in the winter even if you didn't like the cold and snow there were nice sunny days in between this is just insane there's no break from it

Re: Texas Summer 2022
Just looking at the radar right now, there are Areal Flood Advisories near Junction where 1-1.5" of rain have fallen.
Also just south of Fort Stockton, there is a Flash Flood Warning where 2-2.5" of rain have fallen.
Just not fair! So close!

Very localized but a part of the state that has really been hurting. Hopefully, some decent runoff for area lakes.

Agreed! Last summer was great for Texas standards. Definitely missing that this year...
