Now that the dust has settled on this cold wave, here are the final figures compared to yesterday's forecasts:

Abdullah wrote:Current NWS forecast temperatures for tomorrow morning's low:

35°F - KMIA, Miami
34°F - KFLL, Fort Lauderdale
32°F - KPBI, West Palm Beach
36°F - KAPF, Naples

34°F - KHWO, Pembroke Pines
34°F - KOPF, Opa-Locka
31°F - KTMB, Kendall-Tamiami
34°F - KHST, Homestead

Daily low temperatures:

38°F - KMIA, Miami
36°F - KFLL, Fort Lauderdale
31°F - KPBI, West Palm Beach
36°F - KAPF, Naples

35°F - KHWO, Pembroke Pines
37°F - KOPF, Opa-Locka
32°F - KTMB, Kendall-Tamiami
37°F - KHST, Homestead

Temperatures come in significantly higher than expected, by about 2°F to 3°F except in West Palm Beach and Naples. Even so, headlined by a figure in the 30s for Miami, we can consider this the second-coldest morning since 2010, after yesterday (and seemingly below yesterday in some areas such as West Kendall).

West Palm Beach has its second freeze since 2010. This one was slightly shorter than yesterday's, lasting nearly 2.5 hours, from 5:10 AM to 7:35 AM

Kendall-Tamiami at the Miami Executive Airport weather station (KTMB) had its first freeze since 2010, occurring just before midnight. However it was disturbed quickly and only lasted 5 minutes from 11:50 PM to 11:55 PM. After this, the station only mamaged to get as low as 34°F, although it maintained that level strongly for one hour.

Well, that was fun. Temperatures bottomed out at 34 degrees Sunday morning, and 36 degrees this morning. Location is Miramar/Pembroke Pines area west of 75. I feel like it actually could have been worse, especially this morning. Breezes seemed to kick up at times last night and I suspect that may have not allowed temps to drop as far as if it had been dead still. I thought the wind was just going to crash out, and I suspect NWS Miami did too, with their expansion of the freeze warning into the metro areas. Glad that didn't happen. I think my plants should ultimately be OK, I don't think it was cold enough for long enough to do severe damage.

Tomorrow morning will be a chilly one in South Florida.

Projections:

43 in Miami
43 in Fort Lauderdale
42 in West Palm Beach
45 in Naples

In many winters this would be the coldest day of the year. Let's see what happens.

It didn't seem like it got quite that low. My house read 41, but it's pretty close to the edge of civilization and is thus typically a little cooler in the winter and a little hotter in the summer. Judging from the car, even just going a mile east seemed to bump the temperature up to 45-46. I doubt observations at MIA and FLL got to 43, but I could be wrong.
