Re: Texas Spring 2026
Still 34 degrees here at 2pm! Record low of 20 this morning. Well at least something is impressive cold wise this winter for a day
Unfortunately this is probably it. Accuweather says last cold day til next winter

Sitting outside, enjoying this nice chilly weather with a bowl of chicken potato curry, now this is more like true texas spring weather!

House got to 62 this morning and had to use the heat probably for the last time until November. In a couple days the a/c will be cranking the other way. Texas weather!!

Re: Texas Spring 2026
Euro ensemble heights and total rainfall of half an inch or less for all but NE Texas (GFS ensembles even more pessimistic on rainfall). I know an El Nino of some strength is coming but it seems to be once the ridge/drought settles in, it is hard to displace. Depends on the El Nino, not a master but check the ENSO thread on a regular basis, seems like anything from a barely Nino to Modoki to Super Nino still in the cards.

Second freeze in a row and unfortunately probably the last one until next fall/winter. Made it down to 29 this morning at my house.

The heat is on going forward. Mid 90's on the way with a few spots flirting near 100. Still think the pattern turns active as we head into April. We shall see.

Oh good, time for another extended visit from the death ridge to bake the ground and continue turning the whole state into a desert.

Yes it will be an incredibly dry period the rest of March, alongside the heat. Beyond this weekend's heat surge, there is another one behind it mid to late next week. We are very likely to end up the warmest March on record, by a margin...as if the 2nd warmest February wasn't enough. This kind of warm stretch we would be raising eyebrows in May no less March.

Re: Texas Spring 2026
Someone posted if we had this pattern in July it would be 125+ easily
Phoenix is 10 days ahead of their first 100 degree day on record and the forecast looks almost like mid summer
Earliest 105 is April 20th

At least this is our last spring in Texas. Once the school year is over we’re headed somewhere that is (among many other things) a lot more climate resistant than this place.

Hard to believe but Tulsa even hit 99 in March 1907. I had to look at it twice. Go figure

I'm actively considering, I don't mind it being hot when it is supposed to be hot. Issue is 2 days cool 7-10 days way above normal..little middle ground lately and seasons being summer, late summer, extended summer, 2 weeks winter, early summer, back to summer.

If it’s an El Niño, this summer will be BN temp wise but AN precip wise. So look for 90 degrees and muggy. I will take it. Warm winters rarely lead to hot summers.

This is not an official forecast but my opinion. Let’s pray for the rain and take the humidity that comes with it.

One thing I did notice is that April is coldest on record here after the worst heat on record for March so we'll see
I do remember last year too the rain flipped on at some point in April and people thought it would never stop in July. We can only hope we follow something similar
