Is it really winter?

#1 Postby David » Sat Dec 27, 2003 11:21 pm

Tempretures soared into the 60's in Eastern Kansas on into Missouri ahead of a cold front. High temp in Topeka was 63°, yet well away from the record of 70. Currently it is 50°, while 45 minutes west in Manhattan it is 36°. :o Cold front!!!!! A band of rain litterally trained over Eastern Kansas into Missouri, over Kansas City most all night. Not sure how much rain they got, and I wonder if Garrett got/will get any.

Have a good day, everyone. :)

Garrett (wx247) can expect a decent squall line coming thru within the hour. It's been generally intensifying tonight as a Jet Maxima has punched right into the front (very evident on WV imagery).

David:

We were fishing yesterday afternoon and cutting wood at a lake near Lawrence and saw them pop and develop right over the top of us and then move East in a hurry-like you, we got zilch!! Accept wind!!! Oh well, my parents live by KCI so they got some rain-I sure hope this drought situation breaks soon (one month with 3/4 of a inch above normal does not a drought breaker make!!) Yesterdays rain sure seemed like all the other storms the past 3 years!!

We've had spring-like temps here, as well, this weekend, but,
that rain from MO is heading this way. Tomorrow looks to be
a real soaker. I got alot of outside work done, this weekend,
though!

went from 50F here at 3pm, high of 51F shortly before, down to 28F now.

Normal high is 35F and normal low is 18F.
Temps tonight should be in the low 20s or so, so about 10F above normal today.

this warm spell, is similar to last years, should come to an end this upcoming week.

Slowly but surely temps should fall back CLOSER to normal temps, but no arctic air is expected within the next 7 days IMO.

It is winter, but it's too warm right now. I am hoping for a return to normal temps (or better yet - below normal temps) very soon.

Oh yeah, it's winter here alright, let's see-highs in the 60's and 70's, scattered showers tomorrow and Sunday, lots of stupid leaves all over my yard and I'm not allowed to mow. My roses, hibiscus and water lillies are STILL blooming. Think I'll drive to pennsylvania and find some real winter, or anywhere that the temp doesn't get up to 80 EVERY FREAKING DAY!!!!! Excuse me while I go pout.

I personally think the east coasters and midwesterners are hoggingit all. Someone should run on up there and steal some for us southern folk. At this rate, I'll have fresh jalapenos all winter!!!
