January 12, 1997 -
A four day Lake Ontario snowsquall siege was in full swing over the Tug Hill Plateau region of New York. Montague was buried under 77 inches of snow in 24 hours. The hamlet ended up with 95 inches for the event -- one of New York's greatest single storm total snowfalls on record. Both North Osceola and Redfield had 90 inches of snow for this same event.
