There's a strong trough is in the west, so there has to be an equally strong ridge in the east, bringing us the unseasonably warm temps and low rain chances... already it feels like mid July They forecast a high of 95 degrees, usually it'll be a few degrees warmer than forecast so triple digits are not out of the question

What worries me is that June rainfall, and rainfall for the summer is supposed to be below average. We've had some beneficial rainfall the past 2 weeks and things have greened up nicely but we're still well under where we should be for the year precip wise and considering we were in a moderate drought 2 weeks ago this dry spell will only cancel out the rains we've had. Let's hope the ridge breaks and allows our typical afternoon storms that we all love/hate to return.

Wow the NWS Lake Charles' discussion states pretty much the same thing. Not good for us .

HOT DRY WEATHER TO CONTINUE AS THE BERMUDA HIGH RIDGES ACROSS
THE NORTHERN GULF INTO TEXAS. TEMPERATURES RUNNING IN THE
LOW TO MID 90S TODAY. WE ARE CURRENTLY IN A PERSISTENT WX
PATTERN AND AS LONG AS THE 700 MB HIGH REMAINS OVER THE REGION
THEN AFTERNOON PRECIP WILL REMAIN OUT OF THE FORECAST.

THE RECENT RAINS HAVE HELPED THE REGION BUT WITH THESE HOT TEMPS
EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS THAT HELP WILL BE A THING OF
THE PAST.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUT DOORS DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS REMEMBER
TO DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS.

Well CM, the latest discussion sounds a little more promising for rainfall. We should be back to normal chances (30%) for today but there isn't much relief in sight for the rest of the week. Looks like it's back to watering the lawn this evening if we don't get any rain...it's too green right now to see it dry up again!

There is a huge cell backbuilding in Lafayette right now. Has a warning with it in Iberia parish, nicke sized hail was reported there earlier. Getting real dark outside right now but no rain yet...

PT....we got pounded here by Comeaux High School...nothing though at Pinhook and Kaliste Saloom. I can't find out how much it rained but my son was home and said it was bad.

CM, not a drop near the mall. I drive home past your area and the I could tell it had rained pretty good but the rain literally just stopped once you crossed Kaliste saloom. Oh well at least it cooled things down.

Supposed to have a repeat of yesterday with some isolated severe storms once again so hopefully I get nailed . I'll be watching the radars but so far not a cloud in the sky yet...

Big storms erupting to the north of us right now. Just had a thundershower pass over eastern portions of the city after the temps reached the mid 90's. We could be dealing with a severe threat around here in a few hours as these storms sink south.

HOT and dry week ahead Part II now . No chance of rain for the next 7 days and temps inching up into the mid/upper 90's. We have been fortunate enough to pick up some much needed rains the past 2-3 weeks but looks like all of that will be a memory by the end of this week. We could really use a weak tropical system to soak SE Texas/LA.

.SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE WILL DOMINATE OUR WEATHER FROM THE EAST AT THE
SURFACE AND FROM THE NORTH ALOFT. THIS WILL PRODUCE WARMER THAN NORMAL
TEMPERATURES DURING THE AFTERNOON DUE TO THE SINKING AIR OF SUBSIDENCE AS WELL
AS COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPS OVER THE NEXT FEW NIGHTS DUE TO DRIER CONDITIONS AND
A LACK OF A GOOD ONSHORE FLOW.

A BROAD AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER FROM THE YUCATAN TO FLORIDA IS NOT EXPECTED
TO AFFECT OUR WEATHER EXCEPT TO REINFORCE THE RIDGING OVER THIS REGION.

ALOFT THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. LOOKS SAFE TO REMOVE ANY MENTION OF PRECIP
IN THIS FORECAST OVER INLAND AREAS.

THE COOLER TREND ON OVERNIGHT TEMPS SHOULD CONTINUE TNITE...BUT NOT CLOSE TO
RECORD MINS FOR CEN LA AS HAS BEEN SEEN LAST COUPLE OF NIGHTS. TEMPS SHOULD FALL
BELOW GUIDANCE NUMBERS NEXT COUPLE OF NIGHTS AGAIN FOR NORTHERN ZONES...AND ONE
MORE NIGHT DOWN HERE IN THE COASTAL ZONES. WILL GO A BIT HIGHER ON MAX TEMPS DUE
TO THE GOOD SUBSIDENCE WHICH IS VERY EVIDENT ON RECENT SOUNDINGS...AS IS CAPPING
WHICH SHOULD EXTEND AT LEAST INTO WEDNESDAY. WENT HIGHER ON TEMPS IN THE
EXTENDED STARTING THIS WEEKEND WITH THE EFFECTS OF THE PERSISTENT RIDGING ON THE
LATEST GFS RUN.
