Doesn't look like we even get a freeze, at least ''officially" at DFW. And super dry. Makes me nervous for next summer if this keeps up

Yeah even if this front busts like it's November still... And also we're talking about a week out before the peak of whatever it is. Nothing is etched in stone at this stage

Also there are more snowy EPS members here than there have been the last two days btw... Nothing is over yet

Yup, ICON definitely not as progressive with the cold and is showing (at least for now) you don't need the motherload to hit in order to get some fun and games to show up in model world. In fact, that's the look you would generally want for precip as opposed to big cold but dry.

East of Rockies to me seems to still be in play for cold especially into early Dec.

My concern is the orientation of the ridge out west. You would think you want to see energy diving into four corners and eject east but I guess that's why I'm not a weatherman lol

Sometimes energy can round about the base of an eastern trough from the North, basically just flip the map 90 degrees. It's not much but can enough lift to generate in a cold air mass. It has snowed a few times like this like NYE 2000, certainly not common though.

Not only that, the GEFS is more troughing to the west vs everything shoving east. We should give it some more days to see what will happen post Thanksgiving.

A 1055 mb high coming out of Canada at the end of the euro  it shows the cold reloading very quickly

Long range Euro would be something that would sustain cold for large portion of the month. You want that TPV to just spin in the lower portions of Canada, that's the cold loading pattern for the better Decembers. Flow from the NW is cold, no matter how much the models try to shift that ridge.

Euro has a rain/snow mix for north texas, ICON central texas, ensembles do support a system moving in potentially as the arctic air makes it into the state, very interesting next few days

This upcoming pattern isn't a warm one. We've been lacking this for so long. Those 1989 analogs popping up daily on the packages signaled it was going to be a different regime, regardless the outcome.

I'm excited Brent. I would like to see this all winter with minimal warm spells to at least give us a few chances.

I know we deal with the hand that gets dealt us, but if it's a front loaded winter, I'm hoping we all will cash in
