:uarrow: that map verbatim is a non event and even it is likely overdone. this cold snap is manifesting itself as a prolonged period of below normal temps rather than a big, damaging freeze event. No freeze in my neighborhood so far and I don't expect one unless something changes...there's still time but not much.

Yeah the 12z GFS dropped it's colder solution for next Sunday morning. All this really is going to be for Florida as you said is a prolonged cool spell lasting through next weekend at least it seems at the moment.

Yup. Cool for over a week. I'll take it. It's perfect during the day. Can't remember last time wore pants everyday. I'm a shorts person. On another note did everyone see how huge and strong the low is off the NE coast. 100mph winds! It's bringing down the cool/cold weather.

:uarrow: TWC is going to get a nice letter (cease or disease) from Royal Caribbean if they keep blasting them for sailing into the storm lol.

Is kind a crazy. You would think a ship that big that has state of the art computer technology I would think. Would avoid a storm like that

Well February had to give us some semblance of a winter. It has not been too bad in the panhandle, actually mostly mild most of the time. Looking forward to the warm up and back into and on the water. 8-)

Maybe their Met was only looking at the GFS model a few days before the storm formed, on Thursday the GFS was showing it to become nothing more than a weak area of low pressure on Saturday and move quickly out to sea.

This right here is why the GFS needs a MAJOR overhaul. If it cannot get the forecast right just a few days out than why on earth should we trust it for anything? Heck! It constantly keeps forecasting major cold snaps to invade all of Florida in it's medium-long range and during hurricane season always seems to blowup phantom storms out of nowhere! You know it's bad when the European forecast model seems to almost ALWAYS outperform the GFS and actually get the forecast right days in advance. Sorry to get off topic and ramble on some but in short I'm disappointed with our own forecast model the GFS. :(

Still fairly mild. The full impact of the front should get here tomorrow.

That persistent Nino weather border is right back in place over us again on Water Vapor.

No wonder it was such a windy day today as soon as the sun heated the land and some mixing took place bringing down some of those strong winds down to the surface from those strong mid and upper level winds, hurricane force winds just 7k feet above the surface and an upper level jet of 156 knots, I bet it was a very bumpy ride on an airplane over the peninsula.

No kidding. I measured a peak wind gust to 46 mph easrlier this afternoon at my locale. That wind was absolutely amazing today.

39.2 degrees currently., The wind is still blowing, gusts to 20-25 mph currently. Looks like an advective freeze tonight. Expecting near 30 degrees by sunrise tomorrow here.

Measured 30.6 degrees at 7:23 a.m. for this morning's low. This is the seventh freeze of this season here at my home base , and the first this month in February.

It will be a beautiful, sunny day and cool with max temp here in the mid 50s. It won't be anywhere as windy as it was yesterday. High Pressure axis will get closer to the region tonight and this should provide light to calm winds and frost to form across the area tomorrow morning. Looks like a radiational cooling freeze very likely across North Florida tomorrow morning with upper 20s to near 30 again for the interior colder areas.

Went down to 36 this morning close to St. Andrews Bay in Panama City. Further north away from the bay in Bear Creek we hit 28. Tomorrow looks good with highs in the mid 60's.

That cold never showed up down here. We were in the 50's and are already going up through the 60's now in bright sun. A warm up predicted for the rest of the week in the 70's.

Exaggerating models in a Nino moderated year IMO.

tonight is probably going to be the coldest night of this protracted episode of chilly weather with frost advisories covering much of central florida and freeze warnings to the north. Looking for 38-40 or so in my neck of the woods..

Temps fell into the upper 40s in parts of inland Broward Co. tonight, currently 47* here with light nw winds. Lets see if tonight's low beats the coldest so far this season, around here, which was 41. Whatever the temperature, it sure has been cold tonight around here too, and its been a long period of chilly conditions relative to our normally mild S. FL climate.

35 degrees this morning in my neighborhood with light to moderate frost. Euro did a good job days ago with forecasting this morning's temps.

we were a full 10 degrees warmer here, only dropped to 45 after steadying off overnight. No frosts down here yet another year.

Low 40's in my hood...too warm for frost and with a moderating trend underway and the 6-10 and 8-14 day outlook showing normal to slightly above normal temps another freeze free winter seems highly probable.
