Here just north of Orlando, we got some nice squally weather from that line. A little bit of lightning, perhaps not much of that given the warm core type system. Anyone hear yet what level of tornado watches for parts (or all) of Florida?

Well, SPC still has us in a slight risk currently. But, with today's developments with the reliable models all making Colin to be a stronger cyclone before landfall, I have to believe that SPC will update that to an enhanced risk. I am really concerned about tornadoes tomorrow and tomorrow night chaser1 here. Conditions really look favorable for them to form, especially if we get real good daytime heating before the onset of Colin approaching the peninsula. Helicity values look really decent and in a shear environment we will have over the peninsula the next 36 hours, I am afraid we will see numerous tornado reports, especially with those heavy spiral bands rotating through.

:uarrow: Yep, have to agree! I'm thinking that areas from Ft. Myers to Ceder Key, inland from Lake O' to N. Fla., and especially along the coast from Vero to you (and points north), might really catch some "spinners" from within these cells. Will really get interesting if/when we begin to see some better banding features take shape on its eastern quad.... then lookout ;)

Good bit of tropical moisture streaming up from the Gulf. Dodging rain here in West Miami most of the day.

A tiny storm is on top of FIU right now. Tons of lightning with it though. For about 10-15 minutes before the rain there were constant thunder claps.

That was a tiny storm. They mentioned my area in that statement, but I never saw anything from it.

Very low chances of rain today......odd for June. Actually, I don't feel that the storm activity has been all that widespread for SE Florida so far this month. It's been a disappointment for me.

Meltdown heat here. Florida gets horrendously hot when there's not much rain. the low in Tampa this morning was 81. the water temp @ Clearwater beach is now 90...at the upper end of its normal summertime range. the good news is those warm waters are conducive to nocturnal/morning convection along the coast in an onshore regime which is on tap this weekend.

Even with westerly flow, the storm coverage down here has been sparse by June standards. Once the first little build-up moves through, we've pretty much been done for the day and left to bake in the hot sun the rest of the afternoon. No outflow boundaries firing up additional convection, nothing. I hate this kind of "dry" summer weather.

There have been plenty of Junes when it's been pretty much a deluge every single day. Clearly, June 2016 isn't one of those.

It has been extremely hot this week. Reached 97.2 degrees yesterday before we got a late day thunderstorm. Expecting upper 90s this afternoon.May see temps top at 100 degrees in a few spots. Expecting the frontal system to bring us storms late tonight and into Saturday.

Snippet from NWS Tampa Bay Discussion 3:24am Today

By the latter half of next week, upper level cyclone across the
northeastern U.S. looks to deepen once again, allowing several
shortwave pieces of energy to shift south and east across the
southeast CONUS. Long range models depict another cold front may
close in on the region sometime late next week. As moisture will
have increased ahead of this feature, and weak upper support
overspreads the region, expect perhaps greater coverage of afternoon
thunderstorms from late next week into the weekend.

Seems to me that this is rare to to get frontal passages in June. Wonder if this strange and disconcerting pattern will
continue through the summer.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect through 11 p.m. across a large portion of Southern GA and extreme Northeast Florida, including the Jax metro area.

Watching that impressive severe line of thunderstorms with the frontal system dropping southward currently out of Central GA.

The line of storms should be approaching Southeast Georgia the next couple of hours and move potentially into Northeast Florida after 9:30 -10 p.m. These storms are feeding on tremendous daytime heating as the temp reached 97.6 degrees today at my locale, the hottest so far this season, and it is only June 17.

Radar showing really solid line of storms moving just off shore the coast of GA/SC, extending west across Southeast Georgia currently. Severe Thunderstorm warnings up across the SE GA counties. Line of strong to severe storms moving through Alma, GA currently, approaching Waycross and now just north of Brunswick and Saint Simons Island. Line dropping south/southeast. Also, new storm cells are developing just east of the I-75 corridor near Cordele, GA. That is the area I am watching closely as it continuesto develop and slide south/southeast toward the FL/GA state line during the overnight.

UPDATE: 9:20 p.m. : Outflow boundaries showing up nicely on radar over the Okeefenokee Swamp and spreading into extreme Northeast Florida. This will help to spark a new line of storms, which is already developing just north of the FL/GA state line from near Saint Mary's GA west to Waycross. This line should be within the Jax metro area within the next hour. An even heavier area of storms, possibly severe, are to the northwest of Waycross up to near I-75. also, new storm cells are forming up near the 1-16 corridor near Dublin, GA, drifting slowly south. Could be a rather active evening of storms across South/Southeast GA and into North Florida as the frontal boundary triggering these storms sags slowly southward.

Wow for June 20 that is some dry air for south #Florida! Very rare to get any kind of front thru so late #flwx

Summertime storms are in full swing across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia this afternoon. There were some good sized boomers around my area in Jax earlier but got no rain as of yet. Off topic, but do y'all know how to post or upload pictures, weather graphics and radar loops? I'm unable to for some reason.

I'm excited for you. Meanwhile in W. Central Fl the month of June has been a bust as far as frequent storms that are expected now.
Just a couple of exceptions this month Tropical Storm Colin  and some teases. Hope the month of July holds more excitement as this is pretty lame for storm lovers.

Thanks. Sorry Colin didn't bring a lot of rain but it did bring squalls and tornadoes around Jax. It's currently now raining here but don't worry, the season is still young.
