It's crazy how different it's been up here... We had our wettest November ever like 3 weeks ago

But yes this pattern is so boring on the precip front too. Like even east of here in the better cold it's not guaranteed to do anything

The path of the trough is what i expect this winter. Great setup for Texas. Not the exact setup I'd prefer, but it's a good one.

500mb looks decent, still a lot of NW flow. Problem still remains source region looking more like October and November than December.

Don't think DFW had an official freeze, there's a chance we might make a run at top 10 latest if it goes to mid December. Though most of surrounding areas did.

62.9F for the monthly average is a top 5 warmest, think we will finish around that between 5th and 6th warmest November.

Well we had a huge frost here.. I still saw some in the shade about an hour ago

24 at the airport which is apparently right on track with our first killing freeze

But yes it looks like a moderation trend through around the 2nd week of December. Not a single snowy GEFS member through December 9th here

This SOI decided to go on a wild +20 daily run, which might explain why the cold and moisture vanished from the models

Looks seasonable the next 7 days. No torch, but no real blasts of cold either. Some slight chances for rain mid-week.

We'll be moving to the official winter thread for discussion tonight on cue with December 1st, welcome to DJF! Bread and butter, time to put up or shut up they say .

Ensembles do try and retrograde the ridge/trough positions closer to mid month. We'll have to see how much cold air is available during that time.

South and east Texas could see several inches of rain by mid December. Would be very nice to see!

Over 12 inches of rain here this month crazy

The first week of the month was the wettest week since 1974

I wish it meant something about the winter

As noted in a post earlier, wetter is warmer. Warm air holds more moisture. Having extremely wet 'cold' months is typically not a good sign.

What is preferable is slightly above normal precipitation, and below normal temps.

The drought monitor map says otherwise for Fort Bend and Harris counties (your location). You take the rain when you can get it cuz we all know how bad droughts can get around here, especially if you were around in 2011.

Latest models have somewhat of a winter storm signal around the 10th. If we can find some cold air.
