Goodness I haven't been this happy in so long! A thin line of heavy rain just trained over my house in SA for 2 hours earlier this morning and my dad said we got 3.5 inches!! Amazing! Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we got any rain at our house, I missed it. 
But I am glad the people who got rain did get it!
It was muggy as all get out when I went out and cloudy but nothing looked remotely damp.
Our rain gauge got run over by dog who thinks she's either a tank or a running back
about a month or so ago and we haven't needed it so I forgot to buy another one. I need to buy multiples - this is the second one she ran over! We have a huge yard and I don't know why she cant go around it or over it lol.

Its so dry here a puppy disappeared into a crack in the earth in someone's backyard. Here is the excerpt from WFAA.com:
"GARLAND - The cries came from the cracked earth.
"His head's the only thing sticking out," said Justin Craft, Garland Animal Services officer.
The victim, a four-week-old puppy, disappeared in Fredericka Simon's backyard Thursday morning.
"That's when I got on my knees," she said, "I started listening. I said, 'That sounds like a baby!' That has to be him."
The little guy somehow slipped almost three feet down into a narrow crack.
"The crack was about 3 to 4 inches wide," said Diego Villalpando, Garland Animal Services officer.
"I was crying because that's a baby puppy," Simon said. "He can't defend himself."
Fredericka said she panicked and called 911.
"I was so hysterical," she remembered. "I was like: 'Please! It's a baby puppy. He's in the hole.' They were like, 'Calm down, calm down.' I said, 'My son's crying. It's his puppy.'"
"I thought it was going to die at first," said Ketrick Sanders, Simon's son.
Garland Animal Services sent three officers to the scene, including Edward Suarez"

I agree. I don't think I have seen a rainfall event over .50 inch in months! I really hope it happens! Btw that isn't a model in Ntxw's graphic. It's the HPC's forecast QPF map, which takes into account some model runs that they prefer over others.

Got a few sprinkles on campus at UT today. I doubt it was even a measurable amount, but it's a start. I did see a radar clip take some decent rains over the western part of Lake Travis for 10-15 minutes. Any water we can get into the lake is definitely a plus.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.
Husband said we did get 'some' rain this morning. I was out this afternoon and felt something inbetween mist and drizzle...
Re the puppy that fell in the crack - that puppy is 4 weeks old! And they left it out in the backyard in a cage!
It was taken to a vet afterwards (I think by animal control) and the vet said the puppy was ok but should be returned to it's mother till it was older. (8-10 weeks is when puppies should be separated from mom and sibs). I'm sooo glad they listened and took the puppy back. I hope the pup didn't catch parvo while it was outside in the dirt without vaccinations..

Again, im not trying to get anyone's hopes up but HPC continues to advertise gold from the sky. Short term models not only give DFW some rain the next 24 hours but parts of the Austin area then HGX this weekend as well. Keep your fingers crossed. Of course it will be in scattered form so please don't shoot the messenger.

Texas knows drought. Texas has been toughened on the anvil of droughts that have come and gone. This is not a climate change drought. What we do anticipate from climate change is a situation where temperatures progressively increase."
So, what's our problem? Mostly, it's La Nina, that little trollop. She's been messin' with Texas for a long time. And the relationship between her cool Pacific sea-surface temperatures and dry times here is pretty well established.
For nearly 120 years, since we've kept any kind of reliable records, La Nina has visited us 20 times, 19 of those resulting in below normal precipitation, according to Dr. Robert Hoerling, a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research meteorologist, who served as the lead author of the U.S. Climate Change Science Plan Synthesis and Assessment Report.
In fact, of all southwest states, Texas is pretty unique because a relatively long-term forecast of below-average rainfall can be made with some certitude where she's concerned. Now, just looking at La Nina won't tell us how deep the drought will be, but her presence tells us something's coming - or not.

Ok I have watched rain in every part of the state yesterday except Waco! This seems to be the pattern in my last 10 years of living here- Everything stops short of McLennan county!! I have people 36 miles away - dancing about puddles and I still am watering the lawn- Geesh! Patience Patience

Think I heard thunder .... very muggy and cloudy and 92F at the house - it had been 100F. Then we washed the dog! lol Maybe I should wash the cars too! (In the neighbor's driveway, it's not our day to water

Music to my ears. When was the last time we heard the word cutoff low? Autumn begins Friday and the weather pattern certainly is following suit.

Actually picked up a little rain today at the Portastorm Weather Center in southwest Travis County. I think we received about .15 inches. Hey ... I'm happy with anything at this point. It was really nice.
