I'm not the person to make any legit predictions or forecasts, but I think the precip will still come through most of central Texas and part of north Texas. It seems obvious its expanding out west and down south but I just think the local mets and NWS think the temps will be too warm. I'm definitely staying up to see what happens though!

Looks like the band is flaring up in south Tarrant county. Should be here in the next 30 minutes since the line is moving so fast. Temp is currently at 33 degrees, I'm sure it'll fall a degree or two once the precip starts again.

From Steve McCauley:
"It is finally here ... a mixture of rain, sleet, freezing rain, and even a few wet snowflakes with thunder entering the Metroplex and moving NE at 45 mph.
Overpasses have become icy just west of us in Parker County as this activity blew through, so be extra careful on elevated surfaces as this solid line passes through the DFW area! "
I'm trying to get his thoughts on how the rest of the night will unfold.

I cannot stress enough the instability that exists in the atmosphere. You can see it when you look at San Angelo radar. As that general area moves on in, it will be enhanced by the ULL & the developing surface low/trough. It should merge with a developing band of precip somewhere over central Texas overnight towards 6AM. The radar should start lighting up like a christmas tree before too long.

You were definitely right! It's lit up alot. And I personally think it will continue to light up even after this first batch comes through. I just think it'll depend on how much the first round of precip drops our temps.

Mostly liquid. A little sleet. Local met thinks we'll see mostly liquid in the metro area, but he did mention he's expecting snow (no accumulations) on Tuesday morning.
Cheers,

OMG I'm starting to get scared because it's pouring rain here in Killeen @ 32 degrees. Also, look how much the band is increasing in size & intensity. Additionally, the flow of the band is parallel to the cell movement. In other words, it's only very slowly advancing east while rapidly intensifying. I'm starting to become extremely concerned that this will be way worse than the NWS thinks. I can hear stuff freezing around me right now.

I'm reading reports from fort worth, and there is only a couple reports of rain freezing to trees and the everyone else is saying just a steady rain.. Crazy how 1, 2, or 3 degrees can be a crazy difference.

Where are you at? Here in far north Dallas i'm getting a steady rain right now. Not sure if it's freezing to anything or not. I'll take a walk in 30 mins or so.
