I live just east of Van and thankfully we have not gotten Abby real bad stuff here. All reports indicate a bad situation in Van all while more severe storms and flooding rain continues over the area.

@DFWscanner: A resident in #Van states the town sustained "major damage" and “looks like a war zone.” We certainly send our prayers to them. #txwx

Facebook post from Bassmaster Elite Series pro James Niggemeyer. He finished a BASS tournament out west this weekend and is on his way back to Van where he lives:

"Our little town was just hit by 2 tornadoes. The family is safe. I won't get there until Monday night. Some of the homes were flattened. ambuses (buses converted into ambulances) are being dispatched from Dallas."

KLTV had a viewer report of a tornado from the Slocum area. SHV just went with severe ts warning on that one.

I haven't seen anything confirming a tornado on the ground in a while. Here's the latest I've seen on that storm and it was some time ago:

@CBS11Larry: New TORNADO WARNING for southern Anderson Co. until 12:45a. Possible tornado moving NE at 35 mph. Seek shelter! http://t.co/FJYdwWCjDe

Main portion of the storm passed just to my south. No word on conditions in Maydelle which the storm went right over. I already woke my mom up once tonight so I reckon I'll wait and hear from her tomorrow. Had some hail here, but I didn't want to go outside to see how big it was due to the lightning. After the storm passed, I went out to see if I could find any but could not. It was likely dime-sized hail based on dinks I heard on my window. I'm sure a few miles to my south between here and Rusk got some larger hail.
