Pretty wild last night around 4:30 in East Boca Raton with the a feederband, sheets of rain with pretty good wind gusts. I think gusts were in the 35-40mph range...of course no worse than we see with a strong thunderstorm in the summertime.

Tracking a strong band off the coast of Miami, we will see if that swings around or stays over the Gulf Stream. Today will be watching if we get any sun through in some of the dry slots which would really add instability and fuel for some big storms this afternoon. All depends on how much sun makes it through.

At my local received a lot of rain from Alberto already. Could have been more had that band not setup over the Gulf Stream earlier today but a lot of rain and ponding of water here nonetheless.

At least this rain is keeping it cooler. Similar to what I imagined NW Pacific being like. Or even Ireland.

Who would have figured that it would take the dry southwesterly wind flow from a sub-Tropical Storm to our west, to finally help dry out most of the Peninsula

Would not call it "dry". There are plenty of showers popping up as we speak in S Fl.

You probably missed that one key word from my statement - "most". Geographically speaking, I'd consider it safe to say that about 80% of the state east and south of Tallahassee likely received less than 1/4" rain (or none at all) during the past 48 hours. Cape Sable to Ft. Pierce received a good deal of rain yesterday. Some coastal area's north and south of Tampa and the Jacksonville area seemed to get a decent soaking yesterday too. A few heavy showers appear to now be popping up in relative small areas near Daytona, north of Sebring and East & South of Gainesville over the past two hours.

HRRR & 3K NAM both showing the blob of moisture over the Florida Straits lifting up into South and Central Florida tomorrow as it continues to feed into Alberto. Going to add more to those rain gauges by the end of the month.

Very heavy cell set up over Miami this morning and added to our rain totals. It didn't last too long, but it was really coming down.

Let's see what happens in 10 days or so, with the on/off GFS and Alberto's "tail." Historically, June is easily our wettest month, and we aren't even there yet!

Lee County is enjoying rain. Looks like I will be hauling mulch around the yard in the rain. I won’t keel over from heat stroke. That is a bonus.

We are absolutely getting drenched today here across North and Northeast Flprida. Slug of deep tropical moisture moving north over the peninsula within the overall circulation envelope of TD Alberto really getting us here today. I have already meaured over 2 inches in heavy downpours to this point today alteady. The total rainfall at my locale since Sunday to now: Just over 7 inches and counting...

I was just about to post the same thing, we actually missed out on some of the heavier rain yesterday and the day before in my area off of 16a and we are still at 2 inches over the last couple of days, over an inch of that just today. Pretty amazing when you take into account the typical rainfall for May is ~3.5 inches for the entire month.

Numerous small thunderstorms have set up along the SE FL coast this morning. Looks like Alberto's "tail" is still going, and the moisture tap from the south is actually being bolstered now by an upper level low around the Yucatan.

Tired of the rain, reminds me when I lived in Costa Rica for one year, it rained literally every single day during their rainy season, which lasted 7-8 months.

Thank goodness this miserable weather pattern has broken and a more normal Summer regime is getting underway. It is so nice to see the sun again and we should expect the sea temps around Florida to respond nicely to a dose of June insolation.

Not too excited about these severe storms we are having today though. I'll stick with my afternoon sea breeze thunderstorms.

Day 1 new pattern. No rain. Hot. Humid. Hate it.

It was a very fierce, wild round of thunderstorms which moved through Northeast Florida late yesterday and early evening.

A very intense line of storms moved E/SE out of South Georgia through the Jax metro area, bringing strong, winds and very heavy rain. I measured a 57 mph wind gust late yesterday afternoon in a severe thunderstorm and picked up2.3 inches. The lightning was intense. I saw on tge news here that there were some homes badly damaged by lightning, including one by fire, and lightning placing a huge hole in a roof in another.


The rainfall last night put my locale just over 11 inches for the week, which includes Alberto's total.

A very wet start for the sumner season indeed.Yeah, no kidding the rainy season is here.

Also, it reached 95 degrees yesterday here, the hottest day so far this season. No doubt that the very hot temps helped contribute to yesterday's severe weather here.

That was very wicked Summer storm weather! I hope it is calmer in your area today.
