Bottomed out at 43.7º this morning not too long ago. :cold:

Wasn't too many days ago it was only forecasted to bottom in the upper 50's at coldest. Just goes to show you not to trust the models beyond 5 days.

Cloud cover this morning prevented some areas of northern interior central FL from reaching freezing.
Widespread frost is forecasted for areas north of I-4 but I doubt it because more cloud cover is forecasted to move over tonight. IMO.

Yep, for once West Palm Beach is a few degrees colder than Fort Myers with this cold snap. Of course tonight will be a different story with the axis of the high quickly shifting east.

Amazing how cold you guys got considering that Orlando further north and inland from you is only a few degrees colder.

I have to say it is cold out there for South Florida standards. :cold:

The wind is up too making it feel even colder also. The Gulf Stream couldn’t save us from this cold snap with the NNW winds.

We will not see any significant cool downs across the peninsula after this current one we are experiencing for at least the next 10 days as we start December with a neutral PNA and +NAO.

It does look like the warm and wetter side of El Nino will affect us the next 10 days as a few shortwaves along the subtropical jet will impact the peninsula.this period. The first of these shortwaves will impact the peninsula this upcoming weekend with rain and some storms forecast for much of the region.

Hey, low 70's/low 50's is significant enough for me to light up the 'ol fireplace  I think we'll see another 2-4 day cool down beginning next Tue or Wed. Granted it'll likely have less punch then our current cold snap but as a Floridian, I'll take whatever "cool" I can get. This far out, i'd guess some of you guys in far S. Florida might only see low to mid 70's for highs and low to mid 60's for lows if this large surface high drop's south and east out of the S. Plains as currently forecast. Mid levels are looking more zonal at the time but there does seem to be overall troughing tilted over the E. Conus. Who know's though? Hard to trust the models too far out and we could see a bit more ridging over Florida OR the shallow trough sharpen a bit more between now and then.

Talk about crazy swings in the weather...our lows this weekend in the low 70's will exceed today's highs by more than 10 degrees! That's nuts. My winter sweet spot of highs in the 70's and low's in the 50's is proving elusive as we seem to bounce between being well above or well below those numbers. It certainly isn't boring..

Wow dewpoint of 19F with a relative humidity of 21% in Pompano Beach Airpark in SE Florida as of 11AM EST. That is not something you see everyday!

Yeah huge swing. While South Florida is seeing 40s form lows now with patchy frost in the interior, looks like mid to upper 80s on tap early next week with lows in the 70s, basically almost back to summer-time before the next front moves in late next week to send us back to below normal.

NWS Miami snippet:
Temperatures will continue to warm back into the mid to upper 80s across
peninsula through the early portions of next week.

Wow big temp gradient across metro SE Florida with West Palm at 46F but Boca Raton in south county at 54F. Note Fort Lauderdale and Miami warmer also. Granted the thermometer in West Palm is at the airport I believe which is further from the coast than Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale airports.

Only 57 for a high in Tampa after a morning low of 43...That's cool for even mid winter. The high clouds that held down daytime temps will have the opposite impact tonight and accordingly all freeze headlines have been dropped for areas north of tampa bay. With temps around 50 now there's a decent chance tonight won't be any cooler than last night with the moderation commencing tomorrow. weekend looks warm, humid and unsettled.

Forecasted widespread frost for areas of central FL for this morning was a big bust. This is fairly usual for El Nino years, an active subtropical jet stream brings cloud cover in to keep the nighttime temps from dropping too much.

:uarrow: Yeah, the cirrus canopy kept temps just above freezing here so far this morning. Currently 33.6 degrees.

We warm up beginning today. Temps will be near 80 here by Sunday. Rain and storms will be back across the region this weekend as the the STJ. sends another disturbance toward the peninsula.

There will be more rain potential later next week, especially Tuesday,, across the peninsula as the STJ gets active.

06Z GFS run this morning has another front to cool us back to at least normal levels by middle of next week. Looking. a bit farther ahead, GFS hinting at even a stronger front, which could bring freeze potential to North Florida Dec.10-11. I will monitor closely as usually there will be changes with the models as time progresses.

We've briefly touched the low 50s, though as usual, the N winds have made it feel chillier than it really is.

For what it's worth, Weather Channel extended forecast for Miami goes all the way to December 13 and only shows one day with a morning low under 60 degrees, December 5.

I hope so northjaxpro because the NAO is supposed to go back to positive which means warm and dry and we are in a drought now according to the latest drought indicator maps. We need rain bad down here.
