Well I avoided the svr wx here as expected but not the heavy rain. this is the 3rd rainfall event of more than 2" in the past 2 weeks! That would be noteworthy in the Summer. As for svr wx going forward...I think south florida is in the hunt and the SPC's east weighted forecast yesterday may have ultimately been the best idea all along. we'll see. I would expect a new watch down there later on and lightning runs all the way to the Yucatan channel. Western Cuba gets to partake in this one

It rained.

I'm in Forest City just west of Altamonte S, the line that came through during the past hour or two was non eventful, the best chances for severe wx was to the south of us in Polk County, southern Lake and southern Orange county, the surface was too cool & stable in our area with the strong surface jet a few hundred feet above the surface.

Yep, you're just west of me. Looks like there will be no clear dry slot and secondary line coming through for us. I suppose there's still some fast shooting cells to our southwest that might still impact our area before the primary rain shield moves to our south. Couple more hours though and it looks like we're in the clear. I do think that there's a fairly good chance that points from Vero south might see some especially intense embedded cells later on

I am approaching nearly 1 foot of total rainfall here at my locale since November 1. No doubt, we will surpass that mark by this evening. It is absolutely amazing that we have accumulated that much rain here in just under 2 months. Plus, this is supposed to be among the driest months of the year normally. Psyclone as you stated, this amount of rainfall would be impressive during our normal rainy season of May - September.

Looks like the squall line will be coming through South Florida with max potential afternoon heating. Not much cloud cover over Southern Florida:

Yeah, but this is only going to add to the instability of the atmosphere down that way. Tonight could be very interesting down in South Florida with severe weather or potential tornadoes.

Which explains the emoji.

Yeah I don't see any severe weather in the immediate Pinellas/Hillsborough/Pasco area from this event unless that band up in the panhandle strengthens considerably before it makes it here tonight. Looking forward to the winds late tonight and tomorrow though, should be interesting especially near the coast.

The line of storms moving through metro Orlando—is that the line expected to become severe later or will another develop?

Nice strong squall coming through Orlando area which the downdrafts are bringing down the stronger winds down to surface.

I will say this. I will elaborate more on this overall impressive storm when this event is over late tomorrow, but it is a real good thing (depending on one's perspective that is) that at least a portion of an modified arctic air mass did not get tapped into for this system or else we would have been looking at a potential major winter storm for much of the Deep South. This much I am pretty sure about.

But, this is the type of pattern (El Nino) that if we do get colder air into the mix, I would be willing to nearly bet that we will see a good shot at this happening later into this winter season.

I have yet to see any wind reports of winds in excess of 50mph with this squall line.

The area we all are watching is the potential formation of a squall line out in the GOM just ahead of the cold front, which is currently approaching the Florida Panhandle. The front will sweep rapidly east and southeast down the peninsula late this afternoon into tonight. This squall line could impact down the length of the peninsula, which the models have all pointed to through now well into the evening tonight.

Check the SPC page. there's some wind reports and even a couple of TOR reports. Hopefully we can thread the needle with few additional svr reports but some needed rain for folks down south.

Temperatures have climbed into the mid 80s here. We've been on the edge of the cloud bank which has allowed heating pretty much all morning up to this afternoon. Isolated cells are now developing ahead of the main squall over the Lake and in Western parts of St. Lucie and Martin counties. Expecting things to get rocking here in a few hours.

Satellite imagery( visible and water vapor) is showing a dry slot punching itself through from the GOM, which is occurring currently across North Florida and may eventually get into Central Florida. This for the initial short term will put an end to the rain we have had since early this morning up this way. HOWEVER, this dry slotting may help destabilize the atmosphere much more significantly by sunset. This region is still not off the hook yet in terms of possible severe weather as that squall line coming in with that front could get energized . This is something that concerns me a bit as the cold front will make its way down the peninsula this evening.

It is sunny, hot and juicy right now in Miami, with a whipping southerly wind. Should be some really good daytime heating instability, I hope.

Current timing would suggest that the squall line would move through PBC between 8-9pm but looking at the radar any chance that happens sooner and while we still have daytime heating?

84F on my car thermometer in Boca. Things are juicy and that squall line appears to be moving more quickly than I thought. Wind gusts are increasing also.
