MCS evolution in the Austin area reminds me a lot of June 12, 2014 when we had a storms fire and congeal along a southward progressing boundary with a tornado producing-cell in one of the initial storms. Definite wind potential in these as underscored by the severe thunderstorm watch.

This complex made quite a bit of noise and some damage in the metroplex.

I wish the NWS would not call a funnel cloud a confirmed tornado. It’s not. It’s a funnel cloud. Maybe developing tornado works.

Not a drop of rain this weekend, gust front was pretty strong, lots of small branches laying around. Hoping for better rain chances next week.

Flash Flood Warning
National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX
720 PM CDT Sun Jun 9 2019

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Travis County in south central Texas...

* Until 1015 PM CDT.

* At 719 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Elgin, Tanglewood Forest, Austin
Bergstrom Int Airport, Windemere, Leander, Lakeway, Manor, Lago
Vista, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Hudson Bend, The Hills,
Rollingwood, Mustang Ridge, Barton Creek, Shady Hollow and Onion
Creek.

Additional rainfall amounts of up to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Dallas is a train wreck right now. Very large trees down all over, power still out all over the city. AT&T cell service is barely working in parts of the city. A crane fell near downtown and killed someone in an apartment complex.

There are a lot of power outages too. Many folks can probably expect 24 hours or more before it is restored, 300,000+ is no small number. Northern and Eastern Dallas county really took the brunt of it earlier today.

yeah I'm up in Wylie and we got lucky here... wasn't nearly what Dallas had(we had more damage from a line a few weeks ago). Didn't even lose power and I haven't seen any damage.

We are pretty much at Spring Valley and Hillcrest and took it on the nose. Several big trees down in our greenbelt and power still out.

Saving grace for those without power is that it will be cool for awhile. Otherwise it would be hell very quickly.

Not much rain/storms the next 5 days. Good for cleaning up.

My mom is just NE of you. I haven’t heard from her this morning but early evening last night they still had power. My stepsister in East Dallas lost power and her apartment partially flooded
