Re: Florida Weather
I'm definitely looking forward to some lower dewpoints and milder air...but with the exception of our area...much of the country is either chilly or frigid. Look at the territory in the upper Midwest and northern plains well below zero. I will happily accept our lot. As for hurricanes...it's mid February. Enjoy the downtime, we're not even halfway through the off season.

Oh, we have enjoyed the down time Psyclone, but I fear we have had too much of a good thing for too long. Like I said in my post on the previous page, it is a double-edged sword with the +NAO. Yeah, we benefit with warm winters, but we may suffer the consequences come summer. I hope I am wrong, but Mother Nature usually at some point always has a strange and, unfortunately at times, cruel method of balancing things out with the weather.
Save this talk for later on in May.

And....look at those extended outlooks which have turned decidedly less warm. Some refreshing weather is on the way

Re: Florida Weather
Let's see...
We set a record maximum temperature yesterday of 85 degrees!
Currently, the mercury measured at my home station, 89.1 degrees at 3:32 p.m. this afternoon. I am watching this closely to see if I am going to see the first 90 degree temperature of the year. In MID-FEBRUARY!!! You have to be kidding me right
I am laughing right now to keep from really showing my huge dismay to this!! Unfreaking believable!!!! The Jax NWS WFO is checking in at 88F currently, and Cecil Commerce also 88 degrees.
We definitely have set another record high for the day, still have a couple of more hours to warm...
We cool off tomorrow thankfully with the front coming through, but man this is just insane!!!

Re: Florida Weather
80 degree temps running all the way up to eastern NC...Meanwhile our front is coming up on Lake City. The sliver of warmth is contracting by the hour..

Re: Florida Weather
Well, Psyclone looks like 89. 3F to be my max temp at my station. The temp actually has dropped 1.4 degrees in the past hour now at 87.9 degrees.
At my home locale, we by a whisker just missed having the earliest 90 degree temperature I can ever remember being recorded at my home. I am awaiting the Jax WFO report due out within the hour, but I know they reached at least 88 degrees there, more likely they reached 89 degrees as well. Either way , another record high today for Jax!
Way, way, too early for this ridiculous heat. Thefront is on our door step, and we cool off beginning tonight, but man, we are going to get retribution in some form or another from Mother Nature with this weather. TOO much of a good thing we have been getting.. I'm just saying.....

psyclone wrote::uarrow: Those temps are nuts...enabled by a strong offshore wind. We're a good bit cooler here thanks to that same wind trajectory blowing over the cool shelf waters. Longer term I am meaningfully bullish on cooler temps...which is not exactly a high bar to jump. We can safely jettison the torch warnings...for now.
Yep, we had brisk SW wind upward to 30 mph, with a gust to 33 mph here at my station a short time ago. This of course provided good warm air advection just ahead of the frontal boundary. No doubt the main reason for the record warmth here today.
It is outta here for now and I am not ready for 90 degree heat yet PLEASE!! Hopefully more near normal weather next couple of days, then we get back into the 70s by Sunday. The front will also bring some rain later tonight into tomorrow for our region as well.

Re: Florida Weather
Just got off the phone with one of the mets at the NWS Jax WFO, and indeed, it was confirmed 89 degrees was the official max temp today there, and it not only was a record max for today's date, but the warmest ever temp for the month of February for Jacksonville. They are currently checking to confirm if today was the warmest temp for so early in the calendar year. The climate page report will be posted shortly on their web page.
Also, to continue this theme, remember, we have already in recent months seen here in Jacksonville:
a. The latest ever 90 degree temperature day ever recorded, back on Halloween, 2019, in which the mercury reached 91 degrees that day
b. We saw the warmest days ever recorded in both December and January. 85 degrees both on Dec 10, 2019 and January 3, 2020. Now, we have seen the warmest ever temp for February today. Wow!! Some "winter" huh
c.EDIT: NWS confirmed that today's record high of 89 degrees was not only the all-time record ever for the month of February, but, also the warmest temperature ever recorded for so early into the calendar year!
We are in for a long hot year if we are seeing practically 90 degree temps already , and it is only mid-February. INSANE!!!

Re: Florida Weather
Well maybe a cool down to normal or just below normal around the 23rd. At least according to the long range globals. But as we know that can all change.

NWS Jax WFO confirmed that on top of having the warmest day ever recorded in February, but today's 89 degrees is the warmest temperature ever recorded for so early into the calendar year. WOW! Just incredible!

Re: Florida Weather
Seabreeze boundaries developed this afternoon along the East coast from about Melbourne down to Palm Beach County. Not to mention tonight and last night have been sultry with a stiff southerly breeze. I don’t know what to think of the weather in this state anymore!

Normal now is highs in the upper 70’s with lows in the mid-low 60’s.
We got gypped this winter big time with only one day of relatively cold weather. It’s going to feel like a long hot summer I can just tell considering this, keeping my fingers crossed that the -NAO decides to finally show up during the peak of hurricane season.

We now have 364 days of summer the only day it was nice was Jan 22nd, this is for South Florida weather only. I know Central Florida had a few more cooler days than us.

Re: Florida Weather
Considering this is mid February, nasty out today. No other way to put it. 87 degrees at 1PM and who knows, we may not be done. So glad we are at least getting a small bit of relief for this weekend.....not chilly by any stretch, rather "less hot" with a chance of showers.

It's getting less obnoxious up here. Hopefully you guys downstate get some deserved relief. If we can get a stretch of normalish weather it's going to feel great and that likelihood is increasing.

Once again the extended outlooks show cooler times in the pipeline....Florida is at or below normal across the board in the latest 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks. We are going to have some amazing weather as we head toward March.

Just got my car washed a few hours ago and now there is a good coating of tree pollen covering it thanks to the oak trees in my neighborhood!

I hope you’re right because I don’t think I could make it until next November without another decent cold front.

January 22nd was only nice for a few hours before the media cried snow in South Florida!
