Re: Florida Weather
Given that summer-like heat is becoming the new norm for late winter in Central and South Florida, is anyone considering relocating to a snowy, mountainous area?
At some point, given the current pace of climate change, living in most of Florida might become unbearable—and that’s disregarding the possibility that sea-level rise might overtake coastal areas first. Imagine living in a place with Arizona-like temperatures and Florida-type humidity from late winter to late fall! That’s what’s been happening to most of Florida in recent decades.

You don't have to leave the state, but to paraphrase what someone posted in here earlier this year, if you enjoyed "classic" SFL weather, you might want to move to CFL, and if you enjoyed "classic" CFL weather you might want to move to North FL.

Yep, not an unreasonable thought

Thank you to both, I was curious what the historical record was for Orlando on March 5 and the only source I can think of now is weather.com that shows it. Breaking a record by 3 in FL is very impressive! Orlando tied their record the day before on Weds too at 88ºF.

In the Great Lakes region its been a warm winter, but coming from various hot climates and then coming to this I'm considering the opposite! This is partly the reason I'm following Orlando's weather patterns and noticed the record heat showing up.

Re: Florida Weather
As of today the CPC is predicting much above temps and much below precip. for all the SE. through the period.
If this actually comes to fruition which is no guarantee, it sets up a nasty brush fire season especially come April or so.
Seems any chances of fro pa. rains have not given of much more than sprinkles, would expect that trend to continue.

Re: Florida Weather
Water temps around Florida will likely be toasty even before the summer due to the persistent +NAO. These above normal SSTs could be problematic come hurricane season.

Too bad those extended cpc outlooks are tilting torchy when normal is perfection. Coastal areas that get an onshore wind during the day will have outstanding weather in this upcoming pattern but otherwise it can really get warm with this strong march sun. I really loved today's cool, dry air but it looks like that is done for the near term...hopefully not for good..

Man, I hope that below normal precip for the entire peninsula doesn't happen. That graphic just screams "big SW Atlantic ridge, barely moving all spring"

True, but we'll probably end up getting -NAO troughiness around August and September yet again

Hopefully you’re right, but seasons like 2017 and 2018 prove that isn’t always the case like it was mostly from 2010-2016 with a few exceptions in between.

Re: Florida Weather
I don’t know about anyone else but it’s coming up on the end of March (lol okay a couple of more weeks lol) but I’m ready for some good afternoon thunderstorms. And I’ve been joking around so because I got hurricane shutters installed over the winter at the new house I bought we won’t have any storms near the space coast lol

Quick note/question, what is that weird blob north of Hispaniola? If this was August I would think that is trying to organize into something.

In keeping with what is a monthly tradition so far in the new year...torch warning starting this weekend. 6-10 day warm anomalies are maxed out...which tends to correlate to a period of near record heat. Meanwhile the west will be equally cold...also part of this persistent pattern.

Sup Florida folks, it's not just you guys getting 'torched' lately. I'm in NC now, but used to live down in S FL and still snoop around this thread from time to time. I gotta say that this week, the weather up here reminds me of the old school Florida March weather. Been in the upper 50s and 60s for most of the nights these past few days, and today its 75 this afternoon with a breeze. Crazy huh

Re: Florida Weather
the southeast ridge has a broad reach. It is just a relentless feature that seems to return frequently in recent years. Warm in the east, very warm in the southeast and cold in the west.

Re: Florida Weather
at least in this current run of warm temps the dewpoint in the Tampa Bay area is supposed to stay in the low 60s through early next week, really making things delightful and getting us off the heat/AC rollercoaster of recent weeks

Re: Florida Weather
It's going to be a stretch of fantastic weather.... Just more like late April rather than March. We're also going to "waste" our cool shelf waters...which will degrade our ability to offset early season heat down the road. Fire season risk is also going to escalate quickly with the warm and dry conditions but we're being protected from SVR wx.

Late April weather for sure - high in low 80s, low in low 70s. Small potential for some seabreeze convection but guessing that won't amount to anything. Kind of a snooze.
Area north of Hispaniola is pretty persistent - I feel like people would be watching that if this was August.

Yes winter is most definitely over for the peninsula of Florida at least. As for the area north of Hispaniola, someone said there is around 100kts. of wind shear over it, no need to worry!
