In general it get drier as you go south down the peninsula. The current and expected rain distribution will only widen the gap. We are twisting in the wind until Summer convection gets going that climo is still a bit down the road. Much warmer than normal sea temps could kick start the rainy season earlier than normal...all else being equal..

We got some decent rain in Dade Sunday evening, wonder if that made a dent in the drought. They were fairly long lasting storms that started out around the middle of the Everglades and drifted east over the metro area.

Hopefully we can pick up some more in the next few days with a stalled front to our north. If there wasn't such a persistent SSE wind, we'd probably be in the running for some today - it's plenty hot and humid out.

You guys in parts of Dade into the upper keys got jackpotted the other night. That was certainly a huge local benefit. Everyone else rolled snake eyes. I haven't had a decent rain since Feb 6...although we have chances this week and significant rain over northern florida is likely.

Strong SSW flow today, guessing too strong to let a seabreeze develop and get anything going. Breezy enough that it was actually pleasant to sit outside a bit even considering it's 92 degrees - pretty rare that you can say it's 90+ degrees with a wind out of the south and call it "comfortable."

It has been a very active weather period since Monday as very heavy rain fall and even some severe weather reports have occured across much.of Northeast Florida and portons of Southeast Georgia. The cold front pushing southeast this afternoon. We had a nice temperature drop wth the frontal passage at 1:15 this afternoon. The temp went from 73.7 degrees to 59.3 cutrently as cooler, drier air on north einds currently is moving in finally putting an end to the heavy rain here. We have had some soaking rain totals with this front parked over Northeast Florida the past couple of days. I have just measured the rain amount here at my.locale and the total rain here is right at 3.30.inches , measured from Monday to now! Some areas have received localized amounts of 4- 6 inches. I wish I could send you all send somei of this rain down state. It definitely helped to break the drought in this area. Hopefully this front will bring some rain later tonight farther down the peninsula.

No afternoon thunderstorms yet! But this summer-like heat in April is just as ridiculous as it was in early-November!

2 out of the 15 days of April so far had highs around average, the rest above average with 6 of those days tying or breaking an old record high here in West Palm Beach, today it was 96° btw.

Anyone in Tallahassee want to swap their low of 49° tonight for our sultry 73° if that?

The prevailing wind is much, much lighter today. I could see seabreeze circulations getting going and today being an active afternoon for convection.

This one day surprise cold snap is a gift from above. Low to mid 60's with heavy overcast in mid April is the sort of anomaly we have been in desperate need of.

Cashed in on heavy rain here near the coast along seabreeze boundary around 2-3. Classic summer-time sw wind pattern created when a trough exists over the eastern CONUS.

The last few weeks have been very active in terms of severe weather up here in northern FL. I have a feeling that this pattern will continue in the following days and weeks, particularly, this weekend into the beginning of next week and mid-late next week (maybe next Thursday or Friday).

Slight risk added to the map over parts of northern and central FL for Saturday. Long range outlooks continue to tilt warm but wetter than normal. The prospect for some less boring weather at what is often a boring time of year looks decent..

The west coast sea-breeze was certainly on fire today thanks to those easterly winds, now all the activity is slowly drifting towards the east coast of Florida.

Very nice slow moving storm pushing through. All a part of that west coast seabreeze. Heavy rain, occasional lightning, low rumbles of thunder - the perfect storm to fall asleep to

I'm envious of you guys getting dumped on...hoping to cash in tomorrow. Enjoy that rain. We've got some storms off the Texas coast quickly moving eastward. Tomorrow should be active with some severe risk as more storms develop to our west and move in..

I'm liking this active weather pattern.

Since the last front that we got a couple of days ago ended up stalling, we ended up getting three consecutive days of rain and severe weather up here. About a week prior to that, we had a mini severe weather event that popped out of nowhere -- I woke up in the morning to see that parts of NWS Jax's CWA was put under a slight risk area by the SPC when only a general thunderstorm risk had been forecast the night before, similar to what happened today with tomorrow's outlook.

The March 31 event was also insane. Up to 90 mph winds and at least one confirmed tornado in the Jax metro area. I also read a news article that said that a tornado touched down very close to me in the Lakeside/Orange Park area, but I haven't seen anything official from the NWS confirming that. A tornado warning was never issued for my county (we were under a severe thunderstorm warning, though). There was also another tornado on Monday morning in Suwannee County and another in Duval County on Wednesday morning, and neither of the areas were under tornado warning at the time. Kind of scary if you think about it.

Edited to add: Besides tomorrow and Sunday into Monday, in terms of the future, I am keeping my eyes glued to April 23. Looks like it could be very interesting.

Well we finally hit the jackpot this morning on the west coast, I'm guesstimating an inch of rain from the convective complex in the NE Gulf that turned into a line of strong TS as it moved into the Tampa Bay area. Gusts of 40+ in Belleair, Clearwater and Tampa from it so far.
