:uarrow: I think I might've found the answer to both questions; the 1999 tornado outbreak had 102 tornadoes and it was in January.

64 confirmed (63 + the one in Washington state). There have been 112 reports, but many are incorrect or duplicate reports (and some confirmed tornadoes are not correctly reported at first).

They should update that graph to show the # of tornadoes of this year at this point in time (not even two weeks into 2008) compared to other years.

Looks like, barring any late reports, 65 will be the preliminary tornado count. (The final count won't be known until spring or summer - only today did the final reports on storms from May to August last year get released.)

Tornadoes are scary. Hopefully future fronts bring rain without
the tornadoes.
