SE TX/SW LA weather: Much cooler and WET after Tuesday

Dang, setxweathergal. I know how much you hate bad weather... I bet that was scary! I have to LOL at your kids, though. Forget the wind, forget the hail... it's McDonald's time! Glad y'all are ok!!
All of the "interesting" weather went around me yesterday.

This morning, after it had been raining for a good while, I went to check radar thinking it might be training or something, and although there were a few scattered storms out there, this lone cell was just sitting over us, not moving. I had to laugh at the size of it and here I thought, everyone was getting soaked. I bet your Mom's house got a good bit, too.

It dropped to the mid to upper 70's here last night and it's in the 90's now. The only change I see in that is a high in the upper 80's tomorrow, but I assume that's because there's a 70% chance of rain. "Cold" front my foot.

Once again another 70% chance of rain day down the drain. Most of the rain north of us has broken up, it's been cloudy all time with just a few light showers but it seems very stable now. Nothing like picking up less than .25" of rain from this "heavy rain event." Time to break out the sprinklers again...

We've had some showers, but haven't even picked up enough to do any good. Still looks like it might do something later, however, I am not encouraged by the radar. Front washing out to our North?

Last night, I saw lightning to my north and checked radar... a line of storms headed this way. Then it broke apart, they lowered rain chances, and I figured that was that.
Suddenly, LATE, I heard thunder again and out of nowhere, another line appeared, stretching from SE TX to at least as far east as Lafayette (about where the radar I was looking at ended). So... in the overnight hours, we had some heavy thunderstorms.

Just had a nice shower. Rain. YAY! Looks like some more heading up from the gulf. Rain and roses (got a dozen roses today, 28th wedding anniversary is 8/16)...what more could a weatherweenie woman want?

We're getting our first shower/thundershower of the day right now. Surprised me since I haven't been watching radar. Winds gusting to 30 mph and brief heavy downpour, but nothing else except one clap of thinder. I want more!! I don't want ot have to water again this week!!!!

Increasing threat for prolonged heavy rainfall event and flash flooding.

Models are coming into better agreement on handling of unique upper level low over the southern plains late this weekend into early next week. Deep tropical moisture with PWS of 2.0-2.2 inches has surged inland today with downstream air mass of 2.3-2.5" progged to move northward late Sunday. Upper low is now forecast to drop SE into the C and EC parts of TX early next week with well defined surface and 850mb trough/frontal axis across or just N and W of our region.

Given extremely high PWS and nearly saturated air column this is a classic TX flash flood set up. HPC has already latched on to widespread 3-6" with a bullseye of 7" just west of our area through Wednesday. Given favorable upper air support, deep moisture, and surface boundaries in a potential training type atmosphere some very impressive totals will be had.

Most favored area at this time is along and W of I-45 and really along the I-35 corridor down into SC TX and S TX where well defined trough axis looks to set up and focus heavy rainfall.

Flash flooding will be possible due to the high short term rainfall rates, and over time river flooding may become an issue even in drought areas.
