The watches keep coming, and the discussions are saying that the storms will progress east tonight. I wonder if we will ever need a watch in SE Texas too?

I expect a lot of rain this week. I would say up to 8 inches is possible by Wednesday.

jschlitz - I was thinking the same thing about the GFS. Score one for once! I'm not liking the looks of that purple cell around Blanco. It's headed right for my MIL in Wimberley. Think I'll send Dave out to lower the pool umbrellas before we hit the hay tonite...

So how long before the big guns get to Houston I wonder? Will the Dome repel everything to our North? Sure wish we had our own weather model for the Bear Creek Dome. Can you just imagine the coding for that one? LOL!

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0271
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0909 PM CDT SUN MAR 11 2007

AREAS AFFECTED...CNTRL THROUGH S CNTRL TX

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 58...

VALID 120209Z - 120415Z

THREAT FOR SUPERCELLS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED
TORNADOES WILL PERSIST NEXT FEW HOURS OVER CNTRL THROUGH S CNTRL TX.
THREAT FOR ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND ALSO EXISTS WITH STRONGER STORMS
AND EXPECIALLY WITH SQUALL LINE FROM CALLAHAN SWD TO VAL-VERDE
COUNTY.

VWP DATA SHOW LOW LEVEL HODOGRAPHS HAVE INCREASED IN SIZE OVER THE
LAST SEVERAL HOURS AS THE SELY LOW LEVEL JET STRENGTHENED WITH 0-1
KM STORM RELATIVE HELICITY FROM 200 TO 300 J/KG. NUMEROUS STORMS
INCLUDING A FEW DISCRETE SUPERCELLS CONTINUE IN PRE-FRONTAL WARM
SECTOR OVER CNTRL THROUGH S CNTRL TX. ACTIVITY IS DEVELOPING WITHIN
ZONE OF WARM ADVECTION AND ASCENT ASSOCIATED WITH THE SELY LOW LEVEL
JET AND VORT MAX ROTATING NEWD THROUGH BASE OF UPPER TROUGH.
GREATEST TORNADO POTENTIAL WILL REMAIN WITH DISCRETE STORMS
DEVELOPING IN WARM SECTOR AHEAD OF LINE. RUC SOUNDING DATA SUGGEST
STORMS ARE STILL CLOSE ENOUGH TO SURFACE BASED TO SUPPORT A TORNADO
THREAT...ESPECIALLY WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S
AND WITH LOW TO MID 60S DEWPOINTS.

STRONGEST STORMS SHOULD PERSIST OVER SRN HALF OF WW 57 NEXT FEW
HOURS WHERE MOIST UNSTABLE INFLOW WILL BE MAXIMIZED. INSTABILITY
DROPS OFF RAPIDLY WITH ERN EXTENT TOWARD E CNTRL TX WHERE DEWPOINTS
ARE ONLY IN THE 40S. HOWEVER...AREAS DOWNSTREAM ACROSS SERN TX WILL
BE MONITORED FOR A POSSIBLE WW LATER THIS EVENING.
