Time to chime on on the Houston thread. Well EWG our strong cold front looks like it will make it after all. Looking like a stormy day on tap for SE TX. I see Portastorm is getting hammered this morning.

After today more storms with the front followed by a coastal trough over during the weekend into next week.

Perhaps a flood threat by the end of the weekend????? I am thinking the rainfall will become an issue if we get several bouts of heavy rain over the next 7 days.

I will be watching the storms from the 26th floor of 1100 Louisiana in downtown Houston.

We got hammered pretty good here in Fredericksburg this morning around 4:30. It is still raining pretty good outside.

Although this weekend is supposed to be cloudy and rainy, at least it will feel cool outside.

High 63 on Friday: with more clouds and rain i doubt we will make it that high.

Wow Katdaddy ... you'll have a nice view of the incoming weather! :D

Hammered is a good adjective. First strong cell rolled through here around 7:30 with many cloud-to-ground strikes. Tried to get the dog to go out but he gave me a "are you kidding me?" look when I tried to coax him outside. Don't blame him, actually.

Radar shows more on the way for us ... and I suspect y'all will be getting yours too before the day is over.

Well it is flooding all over the place (according to the radio interrupts). The lighting in N. Austin was incredible. It had been a long time since I had seen a light show like that.

And it is supposed to do this for awhile. Better go find a boat.....

Hey Jen,

I doubt the "dome" will hold today. It's looking like the real deal this time. We need the rain though.

Looks to me like the storms quickly approaching I-35 will be the ones to watch. Probably a straight-line wind event for us in Houston.

Well gang the latest update from our own local NWS folks is that we'll see 1-2 inches generally around the Austin area with a possibility of as much as 5 inches in localized amounts. A flash flooding event looks like it may be unfolding for us.

Some nice rain here in the DFW area. Though it looks like once this batch moves through, that's it. Unless more develops out west.

Here's hoping some of the rain makes it this way. Corpus itself doesn't really need alot, but the lakes to the north of us that provide us our water supply have missed out on alot of the rain down this way. Even a good soaking in the Uvalde/Concan areas would be beneficial as the rivers up there feed into our resevoiurs.

We'll see - you have not experienced the Power of the Dome! However, a nice big bow echo seems to have set up from Bryan/College Station down to about I-10. Even The Bear Creek Dome might have trouble with that.

I'm showing rainfall of up top 3" so far in areas to the NW (Milam/Roberts/Lee) counties, and street flooding has been reported in & around Calvert.

Georgetown, in Williamson County (just north of Austin), received more than 4 inches this morning with many smaller roads flooded right now. That area seems to be the worst hit for us.

Here in north Austin, we've received a little more than 1.25 inches so far. The intensity of the event appears to be waning for us.

Y'all stay safe down there in SE Texas ... it's coming your way!

I notice Dr. Niel Frank is jumping on board with the 'Blue Norther' forecast in a couple more days. The KHOU weather channel on digital 310 has him advertising 48 for a low Friday night and 60 for a high on Saturday. BRRRRR! Time to stock up the kitchen for a major cook-fest this weekend. :D
