Mandatory evacuations now.Scientist on Fox news said theres a 50% chance NEW magma is involved.
Yesterdays "eruption" barely registered as a 1 on the alert scale. Now it is at 3.1980's eruption was a 5.

Yellowstone could go....But I dont want to even think about something like that. It would have enough magma released to cover the whole US in a layer 5 ft thick. So I dont want to think about that catastrophe. Hopefully its still thousands if not tens of thousands of years off. Which I am sure it will be.

Could someone please explain what it means to have "new magma" and what it could cause differently in the explosion? TIA

In the simplest terms, new (fresh) magma is considered more potent for an eruption than magma that has been sitting around in a volcano for years.

The presence of magma rising in the volcano adds to the explosive capabilities of a volcano through gases ... which include sulphur dioxide (which is a very volatile and explosive gas) ... when the volcano cannot vent these gases through minor eruptions and steam releases (what we've seen) and a backup occurs, pressure within the volcano causes the mountain to bulge and the sign today was of the continual tremor activity (harmonic tremors) that indicated a potential threat for a larger eruption than the ones we've seen today and yesterday ...

Well instead of having old magma with no new source left over from 1998. That is when Magma made a try to make it to the surface but never could. And this was old left over magma. New magma would be from the lower levels of the crust to the mantle. And would be a rich pool of magma. Which would be more rich in gases such as sulfur and can lead to a much much larger eruption.
The good thing is it will be harder than in 1980 for new magma to reach the surface. If this continues to build over the following weeks and gets much stronger and a new pool of magma is confirmed then there might be a chance for a 1980 but that would take a couple of months to build up.

BUT A 1980 is not likely.

The biggest reason for a non 1980 repeat would e the fact that it blew away the North side of the volcano. This eruption will be different.More than likely, lava will be involved.Maybe it will stream out like the Hawaiian volcanoes do.Maybe it will explode out like squeezing a mustard bottle

Whatever you do, avoid letting any ash get into your eyes. It can cause a medical condition (I don't recall its name).

Not to scare anyone but it has erupted roughly every 600,000 years and it's been about (you guessed it) 600,000 years since it last blew its top! Yellowstone is considered to be the most dangerous volcano in the world.

Oh crud, HARMONIC TREMOR. You can tell because it is almost continuous.

This is getting worse. Lava looks to be on the move again. Or this is almost a continuous 20 minute longs earthquakes.

Yellowstone May be able to cover the USA in ft of magma, but this is VERY impossible. It will never happen like that, simply because magma travels DOWNHILL. Those that are in the higher elevations are perfectly fine from magma from this volcano. Making it sound like Los Angeles will be buried in Lava as well, which is pishposh compared to reality. it would go down the yellowstone valley, and NEVER make it past the Rocky Mountains. It would confine to only areas downhill from it. once it hits a mountain, it will stop. Also note the quakes. About the same time a Southern California, or Mt Saint Helens quake happens, the yellowstone volcano has a few under it. Something to study as I am doing now. Might be connected in a tunnel of magma in the crust like uugs in a tree trunk.
