heavy rains over Lake O, in Palm Beach County and in Miami-Dade. Looks alot like a summer pattern with afternoon boomers blowing up along the seabreeze lines enhanced by some low-level energy from the southern Jet. Very heavy rains around Homestead at this hour.

This is the pattern I expect to really get going by mid May through alot of June with dominating SW windflow. Today we are seeing a preview.

LOL and much needed rainfall has arrived. Hopefully the rainfall we will get in SE Florida over the next few days will quite the drought talk some. By mid July we will be wishing for these dry days. I'll probably have to backwash my pool every other day like I did last year with the tropical systems that affected Palm Beach (Fay and Hanna).

summer pattern lingo now showing up readily in the NWS discussions.

SEABREEZES HAVE DEVELOPED ON BOTH COASTS...AND WITH CONVERGENCE ALONG THE
FRONTAL BOUNDARY...WILL MAINTAIN SCATTERED POPS INTERIOR/GULF
COAST WITH ISOLATED POPS EAST COAST. THE BULK OF THE ACTIVITY WILL
WANE OVERNIGHT AS COOLING TAKES PLACE/CONVERGENCE WEAKENS

SHORT TERM FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
610 PM EDT TUE MAR 17 2009

ISOLATED SHOWERS AND ONE OR TWO BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS WILL MOVE
SOUTH AT 5 TO 10 MPH ACROSS SOUTH FLORIDA. RAINFALL AMOUNTS COULD
REACH ONE QUARTER INCH IN THE HEAVIER SHOWERS WITH A SUDDEN
REDUCTION IN VISIBILITIES ON THE REGIONAL ROADWAYS ALONG WITH SOME
STANDING WATER IN POORLY DRAINED LOCATIONS

Most areas have seen a trace to a tenth of an inch....can't see that quieting the drought talk quite yet!

As of 6pm, only MIA reporting a light shower in Miami-Dade and Broward:

FT LAUDER-EXEC CLOUDY 75
FT LAUDERDALE PTSUNNY 76
POMPANO BEACH CLOUDY 75
PEMBROKE PINES CLOUDY 73
OPA LOCKA CLOUDY 72
MIAMI LGT RAIN 77
WEST KENDALL PTSUNNY 76
HOMESTEAD PTSUNNY 79

From earlier this afternoon, NWS Discussion

THE RAINFALL AMOUNTS DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS OVER SOUTH
FLORIDA WILL NOT BE MUCH...AS MID TO UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT FOR DEEP
CONVECTION ALONG THE FRONT WILL BE WELL NORTHEAST OF SOUTH
FLORIDA. SO WE ARE ONLY EXPECTING ABOUT HALF AN INCH OVER THE EAST
COAST METRO AREAS...TO AROUND QUARTER OF AN INCH OVER THE WEST
COAST METRO AREAS. SO AT THIS TIME...THIS WILL NOT BE A DROUGHT
BUSTER FOR SOUTH FLORIDA BUT IT COULD HELP TO REDUCE THE FIRE
DANGER A LITTLE BIT.

ITS sprinkling HERE! No heavy rains that I saw, but my office doesnt have windows, so I dont exactly know. I was looking at the temps for yesterday, and a spot unofficially reached 90! Daytona Officially reached 88, as the hot spot in the US yesterday.

Rain, glorious rain! I have missed you! Anyways, 40% of rain tomorrow, seems like the NWS was right about this rain event.
