DFW still hasn't gone above 101(hit 106 during this week last summer, and hitting 100 til Friday will be 16 for the summer, so it's been pretty routine tbh), and it appears after this front this weekend 90s should mostly prevail for awhile, and by then... well... it becomes a lot less likely to have 100's. Hang in there guys. :D

What summer???

Since a certain pro met likes to invade our wintertime discussions with unmerciful talk of sunshine, hot weather and bicycle riding, I figured a little turnabout was fair play. :D

With that in mind, take a break from the triple digit heat and join us over in the Texas Winter 2016-17 thread to talk about our upcoming winter weather here in the Lone Star State.

Including some talk about this early winter forecast for all things related to snow, ice and Arctic air:

Ok so that didnt last long, but check out the 5H that is parked just south of the Aleutians. This is likely a resultant of the warm pool of water there. If this were to stick around for the winter....

Changes are coming Texans. It may be a step down process as srain likes to say but once it happens it should signal a shift of the averages

La la land Euro has a cooler, crisp airmass coming into the US from Canada. The hope is alive

18z GFS says DFW might hover around 80 Monday. If there is clouds and rain thats possible. There is some remnants with Javier involved from the EPac and a stalled front. Some folks may see quite a bit of rain.

Time to dig out those heavy coats

The cold neutral/slow La Nina transition is in line with 1983. Wonder if we get a freak Sept cold snap? doubt it but you never know.

This is turning out to be quite the system for early/mid August. The forecasted temps continue to get lower with rain chances going up. And then the fronts stalls increasing rain chances for a large portion of the state. I am a little giddy. Bring it.

I just want a cooler September/October than the last 2 years... both years I've lived here they have been near the hottest on record and it's time for a change lol

Saw on the news while I was on break during work today that the NBC Storm Chase team will be adding a D.O.W to it's arsenal. I think that's pretty sweet, especially if we get a big one we will have a D.O.W already here that can pull in data.

The Typhoon rule worked. Omais while not a powerful Typhoon had a big footprint and concurred with passing trough. Those shifts in the north Pacific is partially responsible for the changes coming! There are several more coming, interesting to see how they effect the pattern.

Gfs is going for nearly 4-5" of rain. For August if that does happen should be some kind record. Someone somewhere will get a lot. Everyone should get some, FW mentioned possibilities of flood watches.
