Well, so far we have a damp rain gauge. That's about it. A trace? Maybe more tomorrow...

We probably got between a quarter and a half inch of rain. Won't know for sure until I see some of the spotter totals later. Dang, I need to get a rain gauge!

Will be interesting to see tomorrow how the precip pattern develops.

As of an hour ago we had .5" in our rain gauge. Since then it's started raining again.

Of course the pup wants to go out now, while it's raining steadily... she just sits on the porch cause since we've had her, it's barely rained and she doesn't like it much. And I'd rather she not get wet cause when she does we have odour d'skunk...

Glad you're getting some of that liquid joy, Shoshana! Travis County looks pretty well covered on the radar at lunchtime.

Just heard a report that I-35 is at a standstill in Jarrell, both northbound and southbound, due to 8 inches of rain in the area since last night! Poor Jarrell ... they always seem to get the worst weather!

I'm glad to see y'all getting some moisture. It's not alot but it's a start. Hopefully you don't get a deluge that will just runoff because it can't soak into the ground.

It rained for about an hour after I last posted and we got .9" more :) So the gauge is reading 1.4" since last night. More than we've had all summer here I think. We have fill topsoil over sand over clay at our house. I've dug 3 feet down for fenceposts and didn't find limestone/caliche. Rain soaks right in. If it rains really hard it will run off but it has to rain really hard for a long time.

I think Jarrell area got 10" of rain, shutting down I35 for a while but it should be open again by now.

Jarrell's got 15" so far now. That's about 30 miles or so north of Austin.

I'm curious where that Low is at right now - what is the best real time map that would have that?

Steady, welcomed rains continue to fall this Saturday morning in the AUS metro area. We had some convective activity around 4 am but otherwise it has been slow, steady rain. The grass and trees are enjoying this, I'm sure!

The upper low continues to slowly spin literally right on top of us so the forecast remains "wet." And that is great news for us in parched south central Texas.

That's the kind of rain you want! Slow and steady! Congrats on the precip!!!!!!!

I know around here that when we've been in an extended drought people start to complain if it rains 2 days in a row. Hopefully no one (not our members) start complaining.
