I agree. While this is PURE SPECULATION on my part, I have yet to see any video or pics that makes me think an EF-5 was a part of today's horrible tornado outbreak.
But that hardly matters in light of the severe destruction and loss of life that these tornadoes have caused, whatever their final ratings may be.

Down to three tornado warnings that I can see.
Two in NE Tennessee appear to be radar indicated.
The one in east/central Alabama is said to have a debris signature with it.

Horrible stuff. I think this easily goes down as one of if not the worst outbreak in February/March history all said and done. As to the ratings of the strong tornadoes, I think Ef-5 is very possible in a few locales. It's hard to tell the difference between 4 and 5 as to most structures damage is the same, total destruction but what makes a 5 special is the damage done to structures built super strong. If there's none in the way, one wouldn't know. Either way outbreaks like this usually features at least one ef5. God bless all the victims.

Could be right Ntxw, could very well be right.
Utterly amazing to have a deadly outbreak in late February a few days ago and another deadly outbreak here in early March. I think I saw where depending on how many tornadoes actually verify from the surveys, this may be the worst single day March outbreak in U.S. history.
And we've still got the whole month of March, all of April, and all of May to go.

That's like the 3rd or 4th high school today alone, as I said it's been a really bad week for high schools.
Something that might also be overlooked is the straight-line wind damage and how widespread it must be. I saw warnings go up as high as 100 MPH!
This is definitely a "black friday".
Texas Snowman wrote:I agree. While this is PURE SPECULATION on my part, I have yet to see any video or pics that makes me think an EF-5 was a part of today's horrible tornado outbreak.
But that hardly matters in light of the severe destruction and loss of life that these tornadoes have caused, whatever their final ratings may be.
I think there is plenty of opportunity for EF5 damage to show up. There was a report of asphalt ripped out of the ground afterall.
