Yeah, summer is summer. It's quite the boring season in general, I mean exciting is literally a wind shift...

In mean time I'm just following the East Pacific for a light show of hurricanes to pass time weather wise. Big ones coming there but probably few effects on us since the EPAC is now shifting to westward tracking storms with the big North Pacific high flexing from climo.

Newest Euro Weeklies say at least 10 - 14 days until Texas starts to see some rain. Maybe near normal rainfall for July?

Bubba, I think if this niño grows some, I believe that it will turn cooler than it normally would imo.

Both the GFS and Euro are showing variations of a disturbance moving westward from coastal Louisiana into Texas bring rain. Something to watch?

The Euro looks like it tries to develop it to a depression, before making landfall along the Upper Texas coast on the 4th of July fwiw, you can see the qpf swath below.

I think this EC "depression/storm" will turn out just like today's storm offshore North Carolina. That is, there isn't one. GFS does indicate increasing moisture for SE TX next Tue/Wed. Possibly daytime storms. I wonder if the "upgraded" Euro was infused with some of the Canadian model's code? It seems to be over-developing weak features into tropical storms. ;-)

The GFS is on to something tropical in the GOM the past several runs as well. I hope it is right. We need the rain. King EURO flubbed the rainfall amounts in spots with the last event, but it was dead on with that funky no-namer storm. It was indeed a strong low over South Texas! I think Wxman57 just does not like the idea of "cooling" rains in HIS Timeframe of Glory! (He Owns Summer)

They hinted at a 4th of July rainmaker possibly. Meanwhile, have to get through the same ole same ole. Hazy Friday and Saturday because of Saharan dust. My nose and eyes act up every time that rolls in. Guess I'm allergic to Africa(?). :P

Other regions in the U.S. experience dry spells and droughts. But as others have said we are moving into July and August which are dry on average. It wouldn't have been so bad had May and June been average for rainfall but we are still being influenced atmosphericly by the recent La Niña which is finally dead. Just have to wait until the atmosphere shifts more towards a niño like pattern.

Yea I need to get ahold of Jim Spencer and ask him what he thinks about next week. David is a pretty cool guy. Met him a couple of years back during a social outing with Jim.

I guess I was lucky than most in the Austin area from the last rains even though I don't really feel lucky. Just a tiny bit above half an inch. Barely enough to keep the grass perky for a couple of days.

not as much heavy rain inland this run... really confined to the immediate coast. Houston under an inch and barely any rain in Austin, nada in Dallas pretty much

well its happened. Had to put out round bales due to non existent grass and pastures quickly turning to dirt. I don't know what I'm going to do when the bales run out and we still haven't received any rain.
