The temperature data does show above normal, can't deny that. However, those cities are all southeast of me, except for Naples which is south of me. I am closer to Punta Gorda and North Fort Myers. But, I wouldn't doubt that we are above the norm as well.

It is just a feeling I had the other day. That something just wasn't right about this summer. Hot but not STUPID HOT.

I see that next week the U.S is going to be enjoying a shot of fall weather, clear through Atlanta. Kinda early.
I did some day by day temperature research during El Nino years and found that Florida "cools" off a tad in September.. I am taking high 80's. A couple of degrees lower than the August 91-93 degrees would be much appreciated.

I am glad that I am not the only one who can "feel" it coming.

Definitely envious that the somewhat less hot feeling in the air is so close....yet so far away. Been a hot...and hotter than normal...summer in south florida. Every month has featured above normal temps and only a day or two here and there that are maybe a degree or 2 below normal (usally due to rain-cooled air).

From June 1 - today, Fort Lauderdale (airport) has had 70 days at or above 90 deg. Fort Lauderdale reported 64 days of 90 deg or higher for the same 3-month period in 2008. Fort Lauderdale has had 30 nights of 80 deg or higher since June 1.....the exact same number for the period June 1-August 31 in 2008.

Actually every month since March has been above normal in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. This summer will be remembered by me for the June occurrence of a 100 deg temp in Fort Lauderdale....the 3rd time that has happened since records began and the first time since after World War II!!!

Most of the rain (2.84 inches) fell in exactly one hour! The roads were also flooded.

Great weather outside right now!! Nice and coolish. Not too hot, but not too cool either. NNE breeze is very nice, and the humidity isnt bad at all. Can I have this weather the rest of the week? lol

not quite 'open the windows' weather yet....last check, the dewpt in tamps was 73, st. pete reported dewpt of 75, and peter o'knight had a dewpt of 79 deg (and a heat index of 102 deg at noon)......plenty of sun though making for a nice labor day.

I had my windows open this morning. Warmer now, so they are closed, but no AC for once.

Windows open with dewpts in the 70s and winds from 5-10 mph or less is way too stuffy for my liking....but i am envious of your fpl bill if you can handle that!

I await that first meaningful front in 7 or 8 weeks or so down here that drops dewpts into the 60s and overnight temps finally fall below 70, along with a great west or nw breeze to air the place out! Chamber of Commerce weather!

My DP has dropped into the 60's a few days back, and has been between 70-73 here today. Humidity is very low.

LOL. Only in Florida would someone characterize 70+ dewpoints as "low humidity." I do agree though that the weekend weather was terrific. Thankfully the NWS way overcooked the convective potential, painting 40+% rain chances all three days. the reality was much less. they seem to be doing that alot lately. the first week of Sept has been mostly rain free in my neighborhood... and we could use the rain as the dry season is fast approaching.

Dew point does not equal humidity. The humidity was in the 40's and 50's yesterday. And for the record, I slept with the window open last night! A little warmer than I would have liked, but it was very bearable. Had more trouble sleeping not listening to the AC. lol

I would think an aspiring met would understand the inherent uselessness of RH. 50% relative humidity when it's 90 out is humid.... very humid. a 70+ dewpoint indicates alot of juice in the air regardless of what the RH indicates. Of course RH will decline as the temp rises since warmer air can hold more water. that happens everyday here in the summer.

humidity makes a huge difference on what it feels like outside, as does the DP. If DP and temp remains the same and humidity drops by 50%, it makes a very large difference.

Manatee County has had 6+" of rain in the last 12 hours in isolates spots and Pinellas has a waterspout off its west coast last night.

Decided to take the dog for a walk along the river park - thought I had it timed so we wouldn't get wet. Wrong! We all got soaked on the way back to the car. She loved it - but us, not so much.
