Here in fort lauderdale it did cool down to 58 last night. That is a memory even 12 hours later....we will be lucky to drop below 70 tonight with flow becoming onshore off the 79 deg ocean.

Warm week ahead...high temps will be up to 5 deg above normal...low temps will be up to 10 deg above normal...
excerpt from NWS Miami Discussion this morning...

DISCUSSION...A COLD FRONT THAT MOVED THROUGH THE AREA LATE
SATURDAY HAS JUST ABOUT STALLED OVER THE SOUTHERN FLORIDA STRAITS.
A DEEP LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT WAS OVER THE MID ATLANTIC WATERS
SATURDAY WILL CONTINUE NORTHEAST AS AN EASTERN U.S. HIGH PRESSURE
SYSTEM MOVES OFF THE MID ATLANTIC COAST THIS EVENING, THE FRONT
WILL MOVE NORTH AND WILL BE NORTH OF THE AREA BY TUESDAY. AS THE
FRONT MOVES NORTH, A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS CAN BE EXPECTED
THROUGH MONDAY. WIND FLOW WILL TURN SOUTHEAST TUESDAY AND SOUTH
WEDNESDAY AND SOUTHWEST THURSDAY IN ADVANCE OF THE NEXT COOL
FRONT WHICH WILL REACH SOUTH FLORIDA THURSDAY EVENING AND STALL.
THIS FRONT WILL WASH OUT SATURDAY AS WEAK HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OVER
THE AREA. NO MENTION OF PRECIP TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY BUT BY
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, WITH THE FRONT IN THE AREA, POPS WILL BE 20
TO 30 PERCENT WITH A CHANCE OF THUNDER THURSDAY AND FRIDAY
AFTERNOON. BY SATURDAY, SOME DRYING OCCURS FOR MINIMAL POPS.

TEMPERATURES WILL WARM UP MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY TO THE LOWER TO
MID 80S WITH INCREASING HUMIDITY LEVELS
. IT WILL COOL OFF SLIGHTLY
FRIDAY WITH THE PRESENCE OF CLOUD COVER AND SOME PRECIP WITH THE
FRONT IN THE AREA.

More like October than December this week (and not much change this upcoming weekend) per NWS Miami:

THERE ARE SOME INDICATIONS THAT AFTERNOON
TEMPERATURES COULD BE A GOOD 9 TO 10 DEGREES ABOVE CLIMATOLOGICAL
VALUES BOTH WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, NEARING RECORD TEMPS OVER THE
SOUTHEAST AREAS DUE TO THE WARM SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST FLOW AHEAD OF
THE FRONT.

The record high in Miami today and tomorrow is 86 deg (set in 1896). The forecast high for today and tomorrow is 87 deg.

There's a sharp weather divide with the continent. Paradise weather here in the low 80's with low humidity for the next week while the north has its first rough run of cold winter weather and snow.

Nice bright warm sun here right now after fresh ground Guatemalan coffee and orange juice... 8-)

A horizontal cold front dipped into southern Georgia with snow flurries but there's enough of a sharp divide that were are under warm sun and will be in the 70's. Slightly chilly last night but 80 again tomorrow.

Through 12/11/09, avg temps are running above normal for the month by the following:

Miami: 76.5 deg (+5.5 deg)
Fort Laud: 76.1 deg (+5.5 deg)
West Palm: 75.0 deg (+5.5 deg)

More record heat possible Sunday and Monday across South Florida....from NWS Miami Discussion:

SO WILL MENTION NEAR RECORD HIGHS FOR SUNDAY FOR MOST OF THE CWA.

ON MONDAY THE HIGHS WILL BE IN THE MID 80S WHICH COULD ALSO GET
CLOSE TO THE RECORD HIGHS FOR FORT LAUDERDALE WHICH IS 86, 1922,

quite the spread in afternoon temps across the state with 40's and rain up in the panhandle to 70's and 80's down south. it is wonderful over the peninsula today. this is the time of year that latitude really counts. a dose of summer in mid december is pure heaven.

Can't seem to get a 'meaningful' cold front south of lake o so far this season....no change in that in the next week...

From NWS Miami this afternoon...

.LONG TERM...TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...HERE COMES THE NEXT
FEATURE THAT COULD HAVE SOME KIND OF AN IMPACT IN OUR LOCAL
WEATHER CONDITIONS. LONG RANGE MODELS CONTINUE TO SHOW A DEEPENING
LONG WAVE TROUGH DIGGING SOUTHWARD OVER THE ERN HALF OF THE
COUNTRY WITH ANOTHER FRONTAL SYSTEM DEVELOPING ACROSS THE NRN GULF.
THE FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SOUTH ACROSS THE PENINSULA TO JUST
NORTH OF LAKE OKEECHOBEE REGION WED EVENING.

HOWEVER MUCH OF THE ENERGY/UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT ASSOCIATED WITH THE PARENT
TROUGH WILL BE DIRECTED NORTHEASTWARD AND THE FRONT IS EXPECTED TO SLOW DOWN
AND STALL AS IT GETS TO THE LOCAL AREA WED NIGHT/THURSDAY
. WL
INDICATE SCT POPS WITH THIS SYSTEM...ESPECIALLY WED/WED NIGHT BUT
EXPECT THE SYSTEM TO BECOME DIFFUSE BY THU.

.FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...WX CONDITIONS WILL DEPEND ON WHETHER
THERE IS ANYTHING LEFT FROM THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND HOW IT
BEHAVES. MDLS INDICATE THAT IT MAY BEGIN TO MOVE BACK NORTH AS A
WARM FRONT

Very interesting GFS model run. A sliver a freezing air AND moisture. If only the surface temps were lower.

a large area of sea fog is lurking just off the west central florida coast as high dewpoint air advects over the cold shelf waters. anywhere from ann maria north could get fogged in quickly should this lurch toward the coast. dewpoints are in the low 70's here.

indeed, Florida is the envy of most northerners right about now. Some portions of Central Ontario are buried under 3-4 feet of snow thanks to lake effect...and this is only about an hour's drive north of Toronto!

jinftl,I think its the high pressure located in the Greater Antilles that is keeping the fronts from pushing more south.Do you agree with that?

visited the beach this afternoon and it was socked in with dense fog. visibility was at times under 100 yards. fog has since moved in from the immediate shore with a quarter to half mile visibility in my neighborhood, about 4 miles or so from the coast. sea fog is real winter treat... it reminds me of winter advection fog up north when warm air advances over frozen ground and snow cover.

Absolutley perfect weather right now!! Not too hot, not too cold, and no rain! If I had the time I would go out into the yard and lay down and watch the clouds go by.
