I mean we got pretty lucky with July relatively speaking but yeah last year August was absolute hell

Our mets aren't seeing much of a front so far

Bring back the warm, sunny 90s so I can get someone over to give me an estimate on the back fence and get my generator to the repair shop. Haven't been out on the bikes in 3 weeks now.

Please...send it back this way - west. Have only .41 since January and it's like a potato chip out there. The monsoon is really weak this summer.

I'll take 101-102 as the worst heat of the summer when DFW hit 110 three times last year.

Very nice front on the Euro, plowing into SE Texas with some pretty cooler air behind it

Something to keep an eye on in the tropics - GFS seems to keep a western track with the wave in the Atlantic and puts it in the Gulf of Mexico. It seems to be favoring the FL panhandle, but some runs are stalling it and it lingers or heads west. Still a long ways out.

DFW did not hit 100 today. July will officially end up slightly below normal.

However annual first week of August heat commences...

More and more models getting further west in the Gulf with probably Debby

I dunno if she'll make it far enough west to matter for us but considering this was going out to sea yesterday :spam:

I thought it was supposed to cool down? GFS shows 100 through most of the run.

Unfortunately not. Next few weeks look brutally hot. Reason number 1 why August is my least favorite month of the year.

Agreed. Other than my father's birthday August is useless. Even my daughter hates returning to school with the heat. Dew points are reasonable at least.

The 100s are officially back, as DFW achieved an intra-hour high of 100*F today (9th for the year so far).

Could potentially be looking at a 7+ day streak too.

A couple of people said something about the Euro showing a cold front in 8 or 9 days. Is that no more?

A front in August is highly unlikely.

I wouldn't really call it a cold front.. more like a maybe less humid front? I dunno about there but we do have some mid 90s showing up. I mean it is August this is by far our worst month for heat... 115 in 1936

Hey Brent, you could come out west this way to visit us this weekend...progged to be 115 here Sat/Sun/Mon after a balmy 112 tomorrow! Some lady got 3rd degree burns by walking barefoot on the pavement last week, made the news. The monsoon is sort of a dud again this year for Phx, only hit-n-miss storms for a couple minutes if you see anything at all. Wanna trade? :cheesy:
