Tonight looks like the real deal for central Florida. The last few nights were just teases, but this one I think has potential to bring a widespread freeze. Skies will be clear, and though there will be some winds it doesn't look like anything will prevent temperatures from falling below 32F in many areas. At 5:53pm Orlando International was ALREADY down to 42F, meaning it will only take a drop of 10 more degrees for the city to reach the freezing mark. It is very possible this might happen prior to midnight, which is very rare for Orlando.

Take a look at some of the Mesoanalysis graphics. Quite impressive to say the least:
Latest high res IR shows the cold layer stratocumulus clouds are just offshore the SW Coast of FL, but far west into the Gulf north of about Manatee County. It doesn't look like those clouds are going to make it onshore tonight, at least from about Tampa Bay northward along the W. Coast of FL -- no clouds for Central, East, or S.FL.

Re: Florida Weather Thread: Wetter & Cooler this winter
Currently at 37 at my house with very light frost on cars' roofs, temp actually went up 1 degree in the last hour, wind picked up a little bit from being almost calm, weird that is of a westerly wind, maybe a sign that winds will switch and pick up in speed later tonight.
Current temps at 10 PM are running within a degree or two from the forecasted temps for 10 PM, but dewpoints are actually a good 5 degrees higher than forecasted. Based on the past few nights I am thinking upper 20s to near 30 for lows versus mid 20s as forecasted, but definitely mid 20s for rural areas are not out of the question.

32 degrees at my house so far, could still go down another degree or two, looks like once again Ensemble MOS was right versus the Operational MOS in KMCO not getting into the mid 20s.
Good thing the winds stayed up, look at the dewpoints across interior areas.

7am EDT temperatures across the state..
Tallahassee - 20F
Jacksonville - 28F
Ocala - N/A
Daytona Beach - 29F
Tampa - 27F
Orlando - 32F
Melbourne - 28F
Fort Myers - 34F
West Palm Beach - 35F
Miami - 40F
Key West - 53F
As suspected, the freezing temperatures tonight were the most widespread of the cold snap so far, with most major cities all the way into central Florida falling below freezing, and several large cities in south Florida falling well into the 30s. As NDG pointed out though, this could have been much worse had the winds been calm.

bottomed out at 29 on my thermometer in North Palm Beach. A little suspect though as PBI was reporting 35 and the nearest PWS (about 1 mile to my west) was reporting 31ish. Still had a light frost on the car and grass. Lost power this morning twice at the house (rolling power outages due to the cold?)

Re: Florida Weather Thread: Wetter & Cooler this winter
looking at the temp at PBI, it still ended up about 5 degrees warmer than the forecast and it did not freeze in most of Palm Beach County. This would be the third night in the row that the models have been too cold on the temps. I doubt a freeze will happen tonight also.
In order to get a freeze in SE FL, the perfect conditions must exist and it does seem with possible freeze events over the past decade (at least), that one of those conditions has not met. Last night the winds stayed up allowing for mixing. With Atlantic ocean temps just offshore running aroun 70F and the Gulf around 60F, that was just enough to prevent the freeze.

41* low last night. Not too bad. Bright sun today should cut some of that frigid air.
8 day duration is unusual for here. Massive cold dome for eastern 2/3rds of nation has rolled down on us.

For jacksonville, you must be pulling Craig Airfield.
Jacksonville International airport (the official site for NWS) was 21F @ 7AM.
