Not Texas weather, but there’s no thread on it, so might as well post here. That system moving onto the California coast is really impressive. KMUX radar is picking up reasonable radar velocities above 90mph only 400ft up, although I’m not sure at what elevation that radar sits

Ho hum looks like another north TX/OK event. You guys have all the fun.
I'm sure we'll get another 0.05" of drizzle down here. It's interesting to me how wet NE TX and OK are sometimes despite being much further from gulf moisture.

Y'all are probably like "what drought?" :D

The eastern potions of the state especially east of I-45 have less influence from the desert to the west and the southwest flow aloft that contributes to capping issues the further west you go.I hate the humidity that we get down here in SE Texas, but being so close to the gulf and further east does help with rainfall, especially during the dry summer months.

What's interesting is you don't have to go very far to my NW to get back into drought... Like Wichita has not even had 3 inches this year while Tulsa is sitting over 6 inches and we're under a flood watch tomorrow and Friday for the same setup where they don't get much

Slight risk of severe shifted into DFW for today. Tornado risks are still more to the west and north.

BTW, technically isn't the yellow area (D0) not considered actually drought, more of trending drought? I thought I remember reading that D1-D4 are the official "In a drought" categories.

I think it's fair to say the drought is over here. Been hours of heavy rain on and off and now a very noisy elevated storm. Saw quite a bit of street flooding before dark

Yes, more has fallen since then 2.5 inches and the hail. (No more hail since then though)

UPDATE: Just checked the rain gauge that got .6 more, which means I got 3.1 in total.

1.35” yesterday/last night.
4.42” for the month so far.
7.70” for the year so far.
I don’t know if we even got 7” of rain for the majority of 2022. If we did it definitely didn’t seem like it.

I’m waiting for the rain to shift south. I’ve only had about 1.5” in the past 6 weeks.
